Gorlin Syndrome
A 16-year-old female with a history of removal of multiple “jaw cysts” and multiple basal cell carcinomas, was subsequently diagnosed with Gorlin syndrome. Computed tomography (CT) of the pelvis revealed bilateral adnexal calcified solid lesions. On further evaluation with magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, these lesions demonstrated low signal intensity on T2-weighted images with enhancement, consistent with ovarian fibromas ().

Gorlin Goltz syndrome: A case report
Publication date: Available online 26 February 2015 Source:International Journal of Dental Science and Research Author(s): Mahesh Chander , Madan Mishra , Amit Gaur , Tasveer Fatima , Shubhamoy Mondal , Shishir Dhar Not many cases have been reported in India, and hence we report here a rare case of Gorlin Goltz syndrome (GGS) especially in young patients without any skin lesions. A 21 year old male reported to our department, with swelling in the lower posterior region of the right side of jaw since last 2 years. Thorough extraoral and intraoral examinations along with orthopantomogram (OPG), CT scan (skull) and chest ra...

Diagnosis of gorlin-goltz syndrome: clincial case report
The diagnosis of Gorlin-Goltz syndrome involves clinical, radiographic, and histopathological aspects. Computed tomography contributes to the evaluation of the characteristics, to the extension of cystic lesions, and to the diagnosis of signs, such as calcifications in the falx cerebri. A 22-year-old male presented a complaint of halitosis. Upon extraoral examination, a slight increase in volume in the lower third of the right face, suggestive of a cystic lesion in the soft tissue, and a scar on the skin of the nasolabial region, were noted.

How visual search relates to visual diagnostic performance: a narrative systematic review of eye-tracking research in radiology
Abstract Eye tracking research has been conducted for decades to gain understanding of visual diagnosis such as in radiology. For educational purposes, it is important to identify visual search patterns that are related to high perceptual performance and to identify effective teaching strategies. This review of eye-tracking literature in the radiology domain aims to identify visual search patterns associated with high perceptual performance. Databases PubMed, EMBASE, ERIC, PsycINFO, Scopus and Web of Science were searched using ‘visual perception’ OR ‘eye tracking’ AND ‘radiology’ and synonyms. Two aut...

Coordinate-based fast lightweight path search algorithm for electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy
AbstractElectromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy (ENB) uses electromagnetic positioning technology to guide the bronchoscope to accurately and quickly reach the lesion along the planned path. However, enormous data in high-resolution lung computed tomography (CT) and the complex structure of multilevel branching bronchial tree make fast path search challenging for path planning. We propose a coordinate-based fast lightweight path search (CPS) algorithm for ENB. First, the centerline is extracted from the bronchial tree by applying topological thinning. Then, Euclidean-distance-based coordinate search is applied. The centerl...

Optimal marker placement in hadrontherapy: Intelligent optimization strategies with augmented Lagrangian pattern search
Conclusions The SAPS algorithm is a valuable strategy for fiducial configuration optimization in IR optical tracking applied for patient set-up error detection and correction in radiation therapy, showing that taking into account prior knowledge is valuable in this optimization process. Further work will be focused on the computational optimization of the SAPS algorithm toward fast point-of-care applications. Graphical abstract

CONCLUSION: The
strategy for the selection of appropriate extracted features is employed to improve the efficiency of classification and
the work shows that the PNN with CCSA based feature selection gives an improved classification than without using
CCSA for feature selection. Derivation and validation of text search algorithms for renal and adrenal lesion identification in radiology text reports.
CONCLUSIONS: Textual radiology reports can be analyzed using common statistical software to accurately determine the probability that important abnormalities of the kidneys or adrenal glands exist. These methods can be used for case identification or epidemiological studies. PMID: 31977309 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

M3NAS: Multi-Scale and Multi-Level Memory-Efficient Neural Architecture Search for Low-Dose CT Denoising
Lowering the radiation dose in computed tomography (CT) can greatly reduce the potential risk to public health. However, the reconstructed images from dose-reduced CT or low-dose CT (LDCT) suffer from severe noise which compromises the subsequent diagnosis and analysis. Recently, convolutional neural networks have achieved promising results in removing noise from LDCT images. The network architectures that are used are either handcrafted or built on top of conventional networks such as ResNet and U-Net. Recent advances in neural network architecture search (NAS) have shown that the network architecture has a dramatic effec...

MLF-IOSC: Multi-Level Fusion Network With Independent Operation Search Cell for Low-Dose CT Denoising
Computed tomography (CT) is widely used in clinical medicine, and low-dose CT (LDCT) has become popular to reduce potential patient harm during CT acquisition. However, LDCT aggravates the problem of noise and artifacts in CT images, increasing diagnosis difficulty. Through deep learning, denoising CT images by artificial neural network has aroused great interest for medical imaging and has been hugely successful. We propose a framework to achieve excellent LDCT noise reduction using independent operation search cells, inspired by neural architecture search, and introduce the Laplacian to further improve image quality. Emp...

The search for biomarkers to direct antiangiogenic treatment in epithelial ovarian cancer.
Abstract Antiangiogenic agents have demonstrated improved progression-free survival in women with primary and recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Biomarkers that predict outcomes in patients treated with antiangiogenic agents are being investigated to rationally direct therapy for women most likely to benefit from these agents. Among the most promising plasma-based biomarkers are vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-A, fibroblast growth factor, platelet-derived growth factor, angiopoietin-2, and VEGF receptor-2. While these biomarkers have been correlated with prognosis, they have not been shown to pre...
