Arteriovenous fistula after radial catheterization with cardiopulmonary repercussions
This article describes the case of an 86-year-old coronary disease patient who underwent cardiac catheterization via a left radial access. Around 16 months after the procedure, he presented with dyspnea, unrelated to effort, but associated with nocturnal hypoxia. There was a palpable thrill in the left wrist and he was diagnosed with a radiocephalic arteriovenous fistula in the left wrist. A duplex scan revealed an abnormal wave pattern and increased diastolic velocity compatible with arteriovenous fistula. The fistula was repaired surgically and the patient exhibited improvement in clinical and laboratory parameters after...

Intramural hematoma and penetrating atherosclerotic ulcers of the aorta: uncertainties and controversies

Ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy for chronic venous disease with ulcer. A prospective multiple outcome cohort study
Conclusion The results suggest that most patients benefited from UGFS.Resumo Contexto A doen ça venosa crônica (DVC) é a principal causa de úlceras crônicas em membros inferiores.

Total reversal of internal carotid blood flow in a patient with severe stenosis of the brachiocephalic trunk

Large-scale epidemiological data on vascular disorders of the intestine.
Conclusions: Our analysis demonstrates that the clinical and societal burden of vascular disorders of the intestine is especially higher in women, in the elderly and in people with higher socioeconomic status. PMID: 32301364 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Compression of left renal vein and left common iliac vein on CT scans: how often are they detected?
Conclusions Left renal vein compression was detected in women and men at similar frequencies, whereas left common iliac vein compression was more frequent in women. Both venous compressions were most frequently found in patients aged 41 to 50 years.

Prevalence of left iliac vein compression on computed tomography scans from a population
Conclusions Our study suggests that iliac vein compression is common among random patients who have had computed tomography for any other reason. This indicates that compression found on tomography images is not the only finding to consider when treating a patient.

Dual endovascular repair (coils and stent) of a true aneurysm of the gastroduodenal artery
We report a case of an asymptomatic gastroduodenal artery aneurysm diagnosed in a 39 year-old woman. An abdominal ultrasound study showed an aneurysmal dilatation of the gastroduodenal artery with 2 x 2 cm diameter. To confirm this finding, she then underwent a computed tomography scan of the abdomen and pelvis that showed a saccular aneurysm of the gastroduodenal artery. A dual endovascular approach was used to exclude the aneurysm by stent-assisted coil embolization. Complete exclusion of the aneurysm sac was confirmed on final angiography. She was discharged from the hospital on postoperative day 1.Resumo Relatamos um c...

Age and sex and their influence on the anatomy of the abdominal aorta and its branches
Conclusions The diameters of several aorta segments and of its branches (except the left renal artery) increase progressively with age in both sexes and are larger and have a higher rate of diameter enlargement in men than in women in the same age ranges. Between sexes, the angle of origin of the superior mesenteric artery was larger in men, except between 20 and 30 years, and the angle of origin of the left renal artery was larger in women between 51 and 60 years old.

Importance of physical detraining in functional capacity of individuals with chronic peripheral arterial occlusive disease: a cross-sectional pilot study
Conclusions The present pilot study allows us to conclude that the functional capacity of individuals with PAOD who participated in a physical tra ining program and subsequently underwent detraining was not superior in relation to individuals who did not participate in a physical training program. The results of the present study serve to encourage maintenance of physical exercise, since physical training is no longer effective if detraining o ccurs.

Positive and negative impacts of nonspecific sites during target location by a sequence-specific DNA-binding protein: origin of the optimal search at physiological ionic strength
The inducible transcription factor Egr-1, which recognizes a 9-bp target DNA sequence via three zinc-finger domains, rapidly activates particular genes upon cellular stimuli such as neuronal signals and vascular stresses. Here, using the stopped-flow fluorescence method, we measured the target search kinetics of the Egr-1 zinc-finger protein at various ionic strengths between 40 and 400 mM KCl and found the most efficient search at 150 mM KCl. We further investigated the kinetics of intersegment transfer, dissociation, and sliding of this protein on DNA at distinct concentrations of KCl. Our data suggest that Egr-1's kinet...

Peripheral septic arterial embolism of non-cardiac source: A systematic review of literature
Conclusions: NCPSRE should always be suspected in patients who have undergone invasive diagnostic and therapeutic vascular procedures, in patients submitted to radial artery catheter insertion, in cases of aortofemoral bypass followed by gastro-intestinal bleeding, in patients presenting sudden acute ischemia of the lower limb, accompanied by fever, leukocytosis, cutaneous petechiae or purpuric macules or a painful mass associated with a pseudoaneurysm at the site of a catheter insertion. In immunocompromised hosts, NCPSRE may indicate a diagnosis of aspergillosis, and a skin biopsy and chest X-ray should be performed promptly.

OCTA Biomarker Search in Patients with nAMD: Influence of Retinal Fluid on Time-Dependent Biomarker Response
CONCLUSIONS: OCTA-based parameters VA, TVL, TNJ, and MNVarea show a strong response to anti-VEGF therapy over time, independent of the presence of IRF, SRF or RT. We conclude that the above listed OCTA parameters could contribute to our understanding of MNV biology and to guide individualized treatment in the future.TRIAL REGISTRY: The authors confirm that all ongoing and related trials are registered.
