Dorsal Scapholunate Ligament Reconstruction by Using Palmaris Longus Tendon Graft in Chronic Static Scapholunate Dissociations: Does It Yield Favorable Radiographic and Functional Results?
Conclusion Dorsal SL ligament reconstruction by using free PL tendon graft was detected to provide successful restoration of the normal carpal alignment together with SL joint stability. This procedure, by significantly reducing pain and improving grip strength was detected to yield significantly improved clinical and functional outcomes, together with high patient satisfaction indicated by improved health-related quality of life (HRQOL) scores. Level of Evidence IV.PMID:37564624 | PMC:PMC10411126 | DOI:10.1055/s-0042-1759729

Joint capsule innervation does not explain the difference in symptoms between scaphotrapezial and trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis
CONCLUSION: The present study suggests that lower tolerance of trapeziometacarpal OA is not due to a difference in joint capsule innervation. On the contrary, we found a higher rate of myelinated tissues in the scaphotrapezial joint. These results suggested other pain pathways to explain clinical observations.PMID:37567415 | DOI:10.1016/j.hansur.2023.08.001

Geyser sign: an indication of chronic shoulder pathology
Presentation An 80-year-old woman presented with pain at rest in the right shoulder. She noted swelling above the acromioclavicular (AC) joint increasing in size over the preceding 6 months. On examination, she was found to have a somewhat firm, non-tender, mobile mass of approximately 4 cm x 5 cm in size above the AC joint. The radiograph showed abnormal soft-tissue density superior to the AC joint. The differential diagnosis included geyser sign, sebaceous cyst, cutaneous neoplasm, subcutaneous lipoma, abscess and Virchow’s node. MRI revealed advanced degenerative change, complete rotator cuff tear and subluxation ...

Natural history of intraosseous low-grade chondroid lesions of the proximal humerus
DiscussionLow-grade cartilaginous lesions of the proximal humerus without concerning imaging findings can be managed with conservative treatment and the risk of malignant transformation is very low. Patients with a clear source of their shoulder pain unrelated to their tumor and without concerning characteristics on imaging can be managed with serial annual radiographic imaging. Patients undergoing surgery for these indolent tumors are likely to experience persistent pain even after surgery.

Image-free handheld robotic-assisted technology improved  the accuracy of implant positioning compared to conventional instrumentation in patients undergoing simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty, without additional benefits in improvement of clinical outcomes
ConclusionThis comparative study in patients undergoing SB-TKA found reduction of outliers in femoral and tibial implant positioning with RA-TKA as compared to C-TKA. There were no differences in both groups for pain, function, and satisfaction at a minimum of 2  years of follow-up.Level of evidenceIII Therapeutic Study.

(A) Clinical presentation of the mandibular right molar region. All teeth were healthy and caries-free, with age-appropriate signs of attrition and without previous restorations. (B) Clinical presentation of the maxillary right molar region. The #16 tooth had a steep cusp with a crack line on the distal-lingual cusp. (C, D) The periapical radiograph of mandibular (C) and maxillary (D) right molar region. The X-ray films revealed normal width of the periodontal ligament and without periapical lesion. Key Clinical MessageAn occlusal veneer is an ultrathin restoration method and a minimally invasive approach that can preserve...
