Comparison between ultrasound-guided pericapsular nerve group block and anterio quadratus lumborum block for total hip arthroplasty: a double-blind, randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSIONS: PENG block may provide slightly more effective postoperative analgesia than AQL block during the early recovery period after primary THA.PMID:37667929 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202308_33404

Effects of low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy on lipopolysaccharide cystitis in a rat model of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome
ConclusionBy restoring nerve damage, LiESWT improved lower abdominal pain sensitivity and bladder function in an LPS-induced cystitis rat model. This study suggests that LiESWT may be a new therapeutic modality for IC/BPS.

The Impact of Laparoscopic Intraperitoneal Instillation of Ropivacaine in Enhancing Respiratory Recovery and Reducing Acute Postoperative Pain in Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy: a Double-Blinded Randomised Control; RELiEVE Trial
ConclusionThe use of intraperitoneal instillation of ropivacaine in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is recommended as it is safe, effectively reduces acute postoperative pain, and enhances the recovery of respiratory effort postoperatively.Graphical Abstract

Blue lung: a complication of methylene blue paravertebral block during vats lobectomy
Paravertebral block (PVB) is a locoregional anesthesia technique that assures effective pain relief in patients undergoing thoracic surgery procedures [1]. To visualize the spreading of the anesthetic in the paravertebral space, at our institution PVB has been used in association with methylene blue.

PECS II block for cardiac implantable electronic device insertion: A pilot study
ConclusionsPECS II block for cardiac electronic implantable device insertion provides effective postoperative analgesia for at least 24  h. Although PECS II block alone could not provide complete surgical anesthesia in the majority of the patients, when combined with supplementary local anesthetic, contributes to a smooth intraoperative course for patients.

Incidence and predictors of postoperative severe acute pain within 24 hours after cesarean section performed under spinal anesthesia at public hospitals in West Shoa, Ethiopia, 2022 prospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: In this study, the overall incidence of severe acute pain after a caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia was high. Preoperative fear, duration of the operation, preparatory pain, spinal anaesthesia without the use of adjuvants, and the type of incision were risk factors for severe acute postoperative pain after a caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia.PMID:37663726 | PMC:PMC10473343 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001031

Delayed awakening and its associated factor following general anesthesia service, 2022: a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: Although delayed emergence is an uncommon condition with a number of contributing causes, it is preventable, and once it has occurred, it presents a challenge for anesthetists.PMID:37663712 | PMC:PMC10473332 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001103

Topical Cocaine Hydrochloride Nasal Solution: Anesthetic and Surgical Considerations
Cureus. 2023 Aug 1;15(8):e42804. doi: 10.7759/cureus.42804. eCollection 2023 Aug.ABSTRACTAdequate surgical view during various types of nasal procedures is essential for surgical operations to be performed in a safe, efficient, and successful manner. Minimizing bleeding during surgery is an important way of increasing visualization that is commonly achieved by using a vasoconstrictive agent to control intraoperative hemorrhage. Many otolaryngologists choose to employ topical cocaine to minimize bleeding during surgery owing to its vasoconstrictive properties, while simultaneously benefitting from its dual local anesthetic ...
