Augmentative Plating in the Treatment of Femoral Nonunion after Intramedullary Nail Fixation
CONCLUSIONS: A high proportion of individuals with femoral nonunion after IMN fixation were salvaged by AP and an autogenous bone graft. Bi-cortical plate and screw intersection of more than six cortices may increase the treatment effectiveness.LIMITATIONS: There were limitations of this study. First, it was a retrospective study over a 10-year period, and the patients were treated by different orthopedic surgeons. Second, lack of functional evaluation is another limitation of the present work.GENERALIZABILITY: The technique of bi-cortical plate and screw intersection of more than six cortices is not difficult for experien...

Mid-term outcomes following reverse total shoulder arthroplasty
ConclusionIn this series, we found that rTSA provides mid-term improvements in range of motion in patients while reducing pain levels. When considered together, this demonstrates that most patients undergoing rTSA can have excellent use of their shoulder from age at surgery to end-of-life.

Total wrist arthroplasty with the Freedom ® prosthesis: a short-term follow-up
J Hand Surg Eur Vol. 2023 Sep 11:17531934231193119. doi: 10.1177/17531934231193119. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe retrospectively reviewed our series of primary total wrist arthroplasty with the Freedom® prosthesis. The primary outcome measure was revision, and secondary measures included radiographic loosening, pain, complications, movement range, grip strength and patient-reported measures. We reviewed 12 implants in 11 patients (mean age 59 years, range 45-80) with a mean radiological and clinical follow-up of 2.7 and 3 years, respectively. One radial component failed to integrate and was revised at Day 84. Four car...

Comparison between percutaneous short-segment fixation and percutaneous vertebroplasty in treating Kummell's disease: A minimum 2-year follow-up retrospective study
CONCLUSION: For the treatment of Kummell's disease, both PVP and PSSF have been found to be effective. PVP can provide rapid pain relief with a shorter operation time. However, in cases with severe kyphosis deformity, PSSF should be given priority.PMID:37694352 | DOI:10.3233/BMR-230083

Femoral neck version in the spinopelvic and lower limb 3D alignment: a full-body EOS ® study in 400 healthy subjects
ConclusionPatients with lower lumbar lordosis present pelvic retroversion which induces a higher femoral neck version. This finding may help positioning implants in total hip replacement procedures. Higher pelvic shift, age, male gender and increased femoral torsion were also correlated with higher FVA.Level of evidenceII (Diagnostic: individual cross-sectional studies with consistently applied reference standard and blinding).
