The term 'eHealth' is used everywhere today. However, a generic definition of this phrase is missing. GE Healthcare refers to eHealth as the total healthcare IT infrastructure that connects and adds value to the healthcare delivery system across multiple hospitals or a region, including physicians, care providers, patients and others.
At Medica 2009 GE Healthcare presents its eHealth solution to fundamentally enable digital networks: the Centricity Imaging Portal. This solution can retrieve historical patient data from different systems throughout a hospital, such as HIS, RIS and PACS. Rad... (Source: Hospital Management)

In no other care area do patients need such dedicated surveillance, care and treatment than in intensive care units (ICUs). At this year's Medica congress GE Healthcare is presenting a new solution for information management in ICU departments, the Centricity Clinical Notification System (CNS). Conclusions
For both units, the prospective and retrospective analyses resulted in divergent overviews of risks in terms of nature and magnitude, which suggests that one or both methods were subject to biases. Findings from the evaluation forms showed that both methods were perceived as useful and that triangulation provided additional insight into risks. Due to the convergent evidence, triangulation of prospective and retrospective methods can provide hospital management and frontline staff with a more complete and less biased picture of risks. An integrative approach might be advantageous in terms of efficiency of analys...

The topic of physician-owned hospitals is one of the popular items in the health care reform debate currently underway. Congress and others in government recognize this relationship as problematic because it raises an apparent conflict of interest. The concern is if physicians refer patients to their own hospitals when the admission is not indicated, or when a test or procedure is not indicated other than for the need to support the finances of the hospital. Because of this concern (whether the problem is real or imagined is not clear), the current proposed legislation contains provisions to prevent physicians from having ...
