Genes, Vol. 14, Pages 1844: Association between Gastric Cancer and 12 Autoimmune Diseases: A Mendelian Randomization Study
Conclusion: Our study did not find a genetic causal relationship between susceptibility to these autoimmune diseases and GC, which suggests that unmeasured confounders (e.g., inflammatory processes) or shared genetic architecture may be responsible for the reported epidemiologic associations. Further studies of ancestral diversity are warranted to validate such causal associations.

GSE206868 Epithelial Gab1 calibrates RIPK3-dependent necroptosis to prevent intestinal inflammation
We report that epithelial-Gab1 deficiency in mice facilitates inflammatory cell infiltration and aggravates colonic inflammation in colitis microenvironment

Unravelling a mysterious skin lesion in a patient with Ulcerative Colitis
A 53-year-old male with a history of long-standing ulcerative colitis presented to the emergency department with pain and swelling in his left lower extremity. He was diagnosed 12 years prior to the presentation with ulcerative colitis. He was initially managed with mesalamine for 5 years after which he lost response. For the following 6 years, he was placed on multiple immunosuppressive medications including adalimumab, infliximab, and mirikizumab. He remained symptomatic despite these medications.

Integrated network pharmacology and metabolomics analyses of the mechanism underlying the efficacy of Ma-Mu-Ran Antidiarrheal Capsules against dextran sulfate sodium-induced ulcerative colitis
In this study, we established a mouse model of UC using dextran sulfate sodium. Colonic tissues were collected from mice and then subjected to hematoxylin and eosin staining, as well as histopathological analysis, to assess the therapeutic effect of MMRAC. Furthermore, we assessed the mechanisms through which MMRAC combats UC by employing integrated metabolomics and network pharmacology strategies. Lastly, we validated the key targets identified through western blot and molecular docking. An integrated network of metabolomics and network pharmacology was constructed using Cytoscape to identify eight endogenous metabolites ...

Diabetes exacerbates inflammatory bowel disease in mice with diet-induced obesity
CONCLUSION: In obese mice, diabetes worsened clinical and pathologic outcomes of colitis via mechanisms that are reversible with treatment of hyperglycemia. Hyperglycemia-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction offers a plausible mechanism linking diabetes to increased colitis severity. These findings suggest that effective diabetes management may decrease the clinical severity of IBD.PMID:37731997 | PMC:PMC10507503 | DOI:10.3748/wjg.v29.i33.4991
