Cumulative Psychosocial Risk is a Salient Predictor of Depressive Symptoms among Vertically HIV-Infected and HIV-Affected Adolescents at the Kenyan Coast
Conclusions Both HIV-infected and HIV-affected adolescents are at a high risk of experiencing depressive symptoms, largely due to the multiple psychosocial risk factors in their environment. The provision of adequate psychosocial support and counseling needs to become an integral part of the care program for adolescents from families living with HIV/AIDS at the Kenyan coast and other similar settings. Evaluation of Iron Deficiency Anemia in a Pediatric Clinic in the Dominican Republic
Conclusions Many children at the clinic were not screened for iron deficiency anemia during the period of highest risk. In the participants screened, iron deficiency anemia was underdiagnosed and often untreated. Disability Characteristics of Community-Based Rehabilitation Participants in Kayunga District, Uganda
Conclusion These findings suggest a high level of moderate to severe functional impairments in persons with physical disabilities receiving CBR in Kayunga district. These data provide support for efforts to enhance CBR's ability to liaise with local health care, education, and community resources to promote access to needed services and ultimately improve the functional status of persons with disabilities in low-resource settings.
