Tuning the electronic ‐optical properties of porphyrin‐like porous C24N24 fullerene with (Li3O)n = (1–5) decoration. A computational study
The chemisorption of Li3O superalkali over C24N24 fullerene lead to excellent stability and large first hyperpolarizability. This system is introduced as a potential innovative candidate for promising electrooptical materials. Using DFT methods, the electronic properties and the first hyperpolarizabilities of porphyrin ‐like porous C24N24 fullerene decorated with (Li3O)n  = (1–5) have been systematically investigated. It is found that Li3O molecules can effectively be adsorbed over N4 cavities of C24N24 with high interaction energies. This interaction is found to narrow the HOMO ‐LUMO gap and work function values o...

Quinoline and ferrocene conjugates: Synthesis, computational study and biological evaluations
O ‐ and N‐regioisomers of new quinoline‐ferrocene conjugates exhibit different cytostatic activity. NovelO‐alkylated quinoline andN‐alkylated 4‐quinolone derivatives attached to the ferrocene moiety through 4,1‐ (7a –d,8a –d and12a –d) and 1,4 ‐disubstituted (9a,9b,10a and10b) 1,2,3 ‐triazole moiety were synthesized. The observed regioselectivity ofO‐ vs.N‐alkylation was explored by the use of NMR and computational techniques. Among theN‐alkylated derivatives, the quinolone‐ferrocene conjugate9a displayed marked activities against chronic myeloid leukemia in blast crisis (K562) and Burkitt l...

A new air ‐stable and reusable tetraphosphine ligand for rhodium‐catalyzed hydroformylation of terminal olefins at low temperature
A new air ‐stable tetraphosphine ligand‐based catalyst could lead to high conversion (>97.7%) and high aldehyde selectivity (>94.1%) at low temperature (40 –60°C). Moreover, the tetraphosphine ligand could chelate with Rh due to the multiple chelating modes even though one or two phosphorus atoms were oxidized, providing at least seven reuses of the catalyst in homogeneous hydroformylation. Tetraphosphine and bisphosphine ligands were synthesized, characterized and employed in Rh ‐catalyzed hydroformylation of 1‐octene and 1‐hexene. Conversion of over 97.7% and aldehyde yield of 94.1% were achieved at 60...

Carbon ‐iodide bond activation by cyclometalated Pt (II) complexes bearing tricyclohexylphosphine ligand: A comparative kinetic study and theoretical elucidation
The kinetico ‐mechanistic aspects of the oxidative addition reaction of MeI to a series of cycloplatinated (II) phosphine complexes were investigated. Cyclometalated Pt (II) complexes [PtMe(C^N)(L)], in which C^N  = deprotonated 2,2′‐bipyridineN‐oxide (Obpy),1, deprotonated 2 ‐phenylpyridine (ppy),2, deprotonated benzo [h] quinolone (bzq),3, and L  = tricyclohexylphosphine (PCy3) were prepared and fully characterized. By treatment of1 –3 with excess MeI, the thermodynamically favored Pt (IV) complexescis‐[PtMe2I(C^N)(PCy3)] (C^N  = Obpy,1a; ppy,2a; and bzq,3a) were obtained as the major products in whic...

Threonine stabilizer ‐controlled well‐dispersed small palladium nanoparticles on modified magnetic nanocatalyst for Heck cross‐coupling process in water
We report the synthesis of magnetically separable Fe3O4@Silica ‐Threonine‐Pd0 magnetic nanoparticles with a core –shell structure. After synthesis of Fe3O4@Silica, threonine as an efficient stabilizer/ligand was bonded to the surface of Fe3O4@Silica. Then, palladium nanoparticles were generated on the threonine ‐modified catalyst. The threonine stabilizer helps to generate palladium nanoparticles of small size (less than 4 nm) with high dispersity and uniformity. Magnetically separable Fe3O4@Silica ‐Threonine‐Pd0 nanocatalyst was fully characterized using various techniques. This nanocatalyst efficiently catal...

Isophorone ‐boronate ester: A simple chemosensor for optical detection of fluoride anion
ESP surfaces of molecules (1) and (1.F ‐) with Mulliken atomic charges at dicyano quaternary carbon and boron in the conjugate(1). A highly selective isophorone ‐boronate ester based chemosensor, (1), having a dicyanovinyl moiety as a convenient colorimetric probe, has been designed. Different types of anionic analyte such as CH3COO−, ClO4−, Cl−, F−, PF6−, Br− and HSO4− were tested and among them only highly nucleophilic F− anion displayed significant response towards the sensor. Addition of the fluoride anion across the boron atom disrupts the π‐conjugation thereby shifts the absorption wavelength t...

Synthesis of Gossypium hirsutum ‐derived silver nanoparticles and their antibacterial efficacy against plant pathogens
A stem extract ofGossypium hirsutum was efficiently used for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The AgNPs showed antimicrobial activity against plant pathogens. Malvaceae and Brassicaceae family crops are economically important; however, their production has been markedly decreased in recent years due to various plant pests. Hence, the search for novel classes of efficient biological approaches continues due to unavailability of precise pesticides. The present study was designed to synthesize, characterize and evaluate the efficacy of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) obtained using stem extract ofGossypium hirsutum...
