Conclusions  The study revealed Beclin 1 mRNA and protein expression were significantly decreased in eutopic endometria of women with adenomyosis. Discussion  Genital tract metastases in patients with known breast carcinoma can present with abnormal vaginal bleeding, but they often are asymptomatic. Therefore, only strict gynecological surveillance of these patients can permit early detection of these secondary lesions. Aggressive treatment of isolated cervical metastasis should be performed when feasible; otherwise, systemic chemotherapy with taxane could be sufficient in increasing survival. It should be emphasized that, in most cases, only accurate immunohistochemical investigation, particularly if performed on the primary lesion as well, can solve d...

Abstract  Since the advent of uterine compression suture by B-Lynch, numerous techniques have been advocated. We aim to discuss these various techniques with respect to their efficacy, safety, complications, complexity of the technique itself, future fertility and menstrual periods. Since no randomized controlled trials are available, the conclusions are based on weak data derived from observational studies and case series. A success rate of 91.7% has been reported for various uterine compression sutures. There are concerns regarding closure of uterine cavity and blood entrapment resulting in infection, pyome...

Abstract  “Inflammatory” changes of the breast can be seen in many different entities ranging from benign self-limited processes, for example puerperal mastitis, to highly aggressive malignant tumors, such as inflammatory carcinoma. While clinically many of these “inflammatory” processes may look alike, there are some characteristics that allow an accurate differential diagnosis and accordingly a correct treatment. A worldwide effort is made everyday to promote breast health awareness, to facilitate prevention, early detection, and effective treatment. Nevertheless, breast cancer still remains as the ...

Diagnostic accuracy of uterine fluid lactate dehydrogenase isoenzyme activity profile and vaginal ultrasound in detecting endometrial cancer in women with postmenopausal bleedingemail this articleEmail this article to a colleague. save this article to My ClippingsSave this article to My Clippings. discuss this articleDiscuss or comment on this article.
Conclusion  LD isoenzyme profile of uterine fluid could be added as a marker for endometrial cancer in postmenopausal women with vaginal bleeding and endometrial thickness >5 mm on transvaginal ultrasound. Uterine fluid sampling is easy, highly reliable, minimally invasive, with high patient compliance, and can be performed as an office procedure. Furthermore, this method is insensitive to endometrial thickness, amount of sample, sampling device, and dilution. Predictive power of sexual hormones and tumor markers in endometrial canceremail this articleEmail this article to a colleague. save this article to My ClippingsSave this article to My Clippings. discuss this articleDiscuss or comment on this article.
Conclusions  Because serum concentrations of CA-125 can be elevated in various malignancies, it is obvious that it is neither specific nor accurately diagnostic for endometrial tumors. What is more, the distinct effects of physiological factors on prolactin secretion shadow the credibility of this hormone in early diagnosis of endometrial tumors. Thus, either prolactin or CA-125 is far from being utilized as the sole entity for screening endometrial cancer. Therefore, both parameters should be regarded as the components of a biochemical screening panel that is to be developed in future. Content Type Jo...
