Conclusions We report here the largest series to date of French patients with BHDS. We noted a high prevalence of thyroid nodules and renal cysts. However, the lack of a control group does not allow assessment of whether or not such association with BHDS is fortuitous. (Source: British Journal of Dermatology)

BRAF V600E mutation and the tumour suppressor IGFBP7 in atypical genital naeviemail this articleEmail this article to a colleague. save this article to My ClippingsSave this article to My Clippings. discuss this articleDiscuss or comment on this article.
Conclusions The prevalence of BRAF V600E in AGN suggests that ultraviolet exposure is not essential for generating the mutation. The BRAF V600E mutational status appears to be of limited diagnostic utility in distinguishing genital naevi that exhibit atypia from those that do not. Similar to oncogenic BRAF-positive common naevi without atypia, enhanced expression of the tumour suppressor IGFBP7 in oncogenic BRAF-positive AGN supports that they are biologically inert. Conclusions The early inflammatory events (IL-1[alpha] and TNF-[alpha] expression) seen, and the lack of pEGFR in perilesional follicles, indicate that inflammatory events induced by EGFR inhibition may initiate papulopustular eruptions along with the altered differentiations. The decrease of filaggrin may contribute to the pathogenesis of the xerosis caused by cetuximab. (Source: British Journal of Dermatology)

Conclusions Methotrexate may be a useful treatment for steroid-dependent chronic urticaria. Functional autoantibodies do not correlate with response. Conclusions Signature polymorphisms were observed to be useful for the differentiation of these strains and epidemiological data showed a host specificity among zoophilic strains of T. interdigitale/Arthroderma vanbreuseghemii compared with A. benhamiae as well as characteristic clinical pictures in humans when caused by zoophilic or anthropophilic strains. Conclusions SCG is effective in reducing pruritus but has no effect on weals, supporting the proposition that, in the skin, SCG inhibits sensory C-fibre nerve activation rather than preventing mast cell degranulation. Unique skin changes in a case of Albright hereditary osteodystrophy caused by a rare GNAS1 mutationemail this articleEmail this article to a colleague. save this article to My ClippingsSave this article to My Clippings. discuss this articleDiscuss or comment on this article.
We describe a family with AHO and hormone resistance (PHP type Ia) resulting from a rare mutation in GNAS1. The proband presented with small subcutaneous calcifications in the helix of the right ear and concentrated in a sharply demarcated zone of subcutaneous and dermal hypoplasia. This abnormality has so far not been described in patients with AHO. We speculate on the mechanism of dermal hypoplasia and resistance to PTH and suggest that subcutanous or dermal hypoplasia might be another feature which can be present in patients with AHO. Conclusions i.d. injections of rR9-containing immunogenic Ag without adjuvants simultaneously induce dual immunological effects: the induction of Tc1- and Th1-dominant immune responses, and the induction of inflammatory and CTL-mediated immune responses at the injection area by expressing Ag epitopes on MHC class I molecules as targets. Our findings suggest tape stripping and SLS testing may have a role as predictive tests to identify patients at risk of PSP. (Source: British Journal of Dermatology)

The present review gives an overview of the enormous variety of skin scores used for assessing severity in patients suffering from hand eczema. A total of 69 articles reporting on 45 different methods for quantifying hand eczema were identified. The panel of methods varied from pure subjective categories to more or less quantitative scoring systems. Furthermore, by focusing on skin sc...
