Differential diagnosis of mucopolysaccharidosis and oligosaccharidosis of a sample of Egyptian children
In conclusion; MPS should be excluded before suspecting oligosaccharidosis. 2-DEP and TLC alone cannot rule out the diagnosis of either MPS or oligosaccharidosis and confirmation must be done by specific lysosomal enzymatic assay. Analysis of GAGs by 2-DEP in amniotic fluid can be promising method for prenatal diagnosis of MPS. (Source: Bulletin of Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University)

Stability indicating methods for selective determination of Oxetacaine in the presence of its degradation products
Publication date: Available online 22 October 2018Source: Bulletin of Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo UniversityAuthor(s): Eman S. Elzanfaly, Enas A. Amer, Sara A. Galal, Hala E. ZaazaaAbstractTwo methods, HPLC and TLC were presented for the determination of Oxetacaine (OXT) in the existence of its different degradation products. HPLC method was based on the separation of OXT from its degradation products using reversed phase C18 column at room temperature and isocratic elution with mobile phase mixture of acetonitrile: 5 mM sodium dihydrogen orthophosphate dihydrate, pH was adjusted to 2.4 with orthophosphoric acid (50:50 ...

Atherogenicity of diabetic rats administered single and combinatorial herbal extracts
ConclusionThe present study showed that double herbal formulations (DHFs): A. gangetica + G. latifolium and A. gangetica + A. montanus offered comparatively high protection to DM-r against atherogenic outcomes, which paralleled the capacities of these DHFs to reverse dyslipidemia.Graphical abstract (Source: Bulletin of Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University)

Acute and chronic toxicity profiles of the methanol leaf extract of Acacia ataxacantha D.C (Leguminosae) in Wistar rats
This study was conducted to ascertain the toxicity profile of methanol extract of Acacia ataxacantha in laboratory animals. The acute and chronic toxicity study was conducted according to the method of Lorke (1983) and OECD guidelines (2008) respectively. The oral lethal median dose (LD50) of the extract was estimated to ≥5000 mg/kg. The extract significantly increases (p ≤ 0.05) the liver (alanine transaminase, aspartate transaminase, alkaline phosphatase) and kidney (creatinine, urea and sodium ion) parameters at the dose of 400 mg/kg body weight. Histological examination revealed moderate glomerular necrosis...
