Angio-Seal is a vascular closure device designed for repairing arterial puncture sites used for various endovascular procedures. It has a better safety and efficacy profile compared to manual compression in the previous studies. However, there are significant complications that may arise from the use of Angio-Seal like infections, aneurysm formation, and vessel occlusion. Our case is a demonstration of one such complication. We conclude with a dicussion of the present literature available with regards to the Angio-Seal device.

CONCLUSION: Our study revealed that RFA appears to be an effective, safe and relatively simple alternative procedure for the local ablation of these lesions. These results are more encouraging for lesions 3 cm or smaller, all of which were successfully treated, as proved by the imaging criteria and the statistical analysis. Further prospective trials are needed to determine whether RFA should be proposed for standard protocols.

We present a 39-year-old patient with massive duodenal bleeding ulcer. The patient had multiple variants in his hepatic arterial anatomy that led us to erroneously embolize the dorsal pancreatic artery presuming it to be the gastroduodenal artery. Due to this erroneous presumption, our patient continued to have upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Repeat angiogram was performed, during which the actual gastroduodenal artery was recognized and embolized. To our knowledge, this rare combination of anatomic variants in the hepatic artery as a pitfall during gastroduodenal artery embolization leading to inadvertent embolization of...

Angiogenesis is a key step in the pathophysiology of tumor growth and metastatic spread. Recently, dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) has emerged as a method for assessing angiogenesis both during the initial diagnosis and for follow up of anti-angiogenic therapies. In this review, we discuss the technical aspects of implementing DCE-MRI in clinical practice with emphasis on acquisition methods and analytic techniques.

A 54-year-old woman was admitted to hospital for hypotension and anemia which was due to intermittent hemorrhage from a lumbar drain. She had undergone open nephrectomy ten days earlier in another hospital for the right dysfunctional kidney with staghorn calculi. Ultrasound in our hospital showed a right retroperitoneal hematoma. Surgical exploration was performed twice whereby the hematoma was partially eliminated; however, the point of bleeding was not identified. Repeated attacks of bleeding from the drain accompanied by acute pain made the hypotension with tachycardia even worse, which led to a life-threatening hem...

Atypical mycobacterial tenosynovitis of the wrist can easily be misdiagnosed as synovial chondromatosis. Both sonography and magnetic resonance imaging plays an important role in depicting "rice bodies" within the distended tendon sheaths and bursae of atypical mycobacterial infection. An endemic place for Mycobacterium species and the occupation of the patient should raise the suspicion for the disease. Polymerase chain reaction of the distended tendon fluid is a sensitive, specific and rapid method in identification of the mycobacteria.

Iliac arterial injuries are rare but important complications that can develop after spinal surgery. The presentation of these injuries is usually late, with symptoms such as leg swelling or cardiac failure. However, acute massive bleeding may be a sign of early presentation as in our patient. Herein, we present a case of life-threatening bleeding with early computed tomography angiographic diagnosis of common iliac artery pseudoaneurysm and iliac arteriovenous fistula secondary to spinal surgery which was successfully managed by endovascular stent graft treatment.

Renal emphysema is a rare, fulminant, suppurative infection of pelvicaliceal system, renal parenchyma, perinephric tissues, and retroperitoneum. It is characterized by formation of gas. Invariably this condition is associated with diabetes mellitus and carries high mortality (40-90%). Renal emphysema can be classified into two distinct clinical entities: emphysematous pyelitis and emphysematous pyelonephritis. This classification has important prognostic and therapeutic implications. Bronchopulmonary foregut malformations are a heterogeneous but interrelated group of abnormalities that may contain more than one histologic feature. Familiarity with the presentation and imaging features of bronchopulmonary foregut malformations presenting as a congenital mass or mass-like lesion is important. Moreover, imaging plays a central role in the evaluation of these lesions since, when symptomatic, clinical features are usually nonspecific. With imaging, the presence of and features of the lesion can be determined, facilitating appropriate management to prevent the potential complications including infection,...

A 48-year-old man who had a complaint of swelling in the left submandibular region and right side of the neck was referred to our radiology clinic for sonographic examination that revealed a type 1 hydatid cyst with a diameter of 32 mm in the left submandibular gland, and a type 3 hydatid cyst with a diameter of 33 mm in the right thyroid gland. The diagnosis was verified by computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and hemagglutination tests. To the best of our knowledge, this is the second case in the literature of hydatid cysts involving both submandibular and thyroid glands. There was no abdominal, thoracic ...

We present a case of acute lower limb ischemia with characteristic angiography findings of diffuse arterial spasm resulting from use of ergotamine and an erythromycin derivative, clarithromycin. The history of the patient and classic features seen on angiography helped us establish the diagnosis. The patient was successfully treated with low molecular heparin and epidural infusion of bupivacain. Since ergot vasospasm is a self limited and medically treatable condition, interventional radiologists must be aware of ergotamine-induced acute limb ischemia to avoid any unnecessary interventional procedures, unless necrosis and ...

Paranasal schwannomas are uncommon lesions, representing less than 4% of all head and neck schwannomas. They give rise to nonspecific symptoms such as nasal obstruction, epistaxis, and anosmia. Imaging features are generally nonspecific. Here, we present the radiologic features of a benign schwannoma of the middle turbinate with dural invasion in a 71-year-old woman.

We report a case of hepatobiliary fascioliasis presenting with unusual radiological findings that have not been reported previously. Imaging studies revealed hepatic cystic pouches communicating with intrahepatic bile ducts. Snail-like, oval shaped and conglomerated echogenic particles with no acoustic shadowing, suggesting F. hepatica, were detected in these cystic pouches. In addition, secondary sclerosing cholangitis developed after fascioliasis.

CONCLUSION: DW-MRI of the kidneys might allow early detection of the renal changes in patients with FMF. This might prevent the progression of disease by giving proper medical treatment. Further studies with larger numbers of FMF patients and more experience on MRI technique are required to help define more conclusively the precise role of DW imaging in detection of renal changes.

We present the case of a 58-year-old man who suffered a left thalamic intracerebral hemorrhage. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed an incidental venous angioma in the left frontal lobe. Further elucidated by cerebral angiography and functional MRI, this venous angioma exhibited arteriovenous shunting. The arterialized venous angioma represents an uncommon, "mixed" intracranial vascular lesion whose natural history remains unknown.

Angioleiomyoma (vascular myoma) is a rare type of leiomyoma originating from smooth muscle cells and containing thick-walled vessels. There are only a few cases of retroperitoneal angioleiomyoma reported in the literature. Herein, we present the ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging and histopathological findings of an asymptomatic patient with a pelvic retroperitoneal angioleiomyoma which radiologically mimicked a uterine mass.

Prompt diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia is a dilemma which is nfortunately generally made at the irreversible phase of intestinal damage. Besides conventional diagnostic imaging modalities contrast enhanced multidetector computed tomography angiography enables fast and detailed evaluation of the mesenteric circulation and abdominal viscera which provides accurate and rapid diagnosis in the emergency room.
