Validation of intraocular pressure measurement using tonometer AVIA across different postures: A Bland Altman analysis
CONCLUSION: Good reliability exists between IOP measurements using GAT and TPA. However, the devices are not interchangeable and therefore cannot be used reciprocally in the same patient.PMID:38623622 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247672 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Refractive changes associated with oculoplastic surgeries: A scoping review
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the findings of this study, there is no evidence to suggest clinically significant refractive changes following oculoplastic surgeries. The most notable changes may occur after surgery for severe ptosis; however, further research is needed to confirm this observation.PMID:38623746 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247422 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Exploring clinical variability in gelsolin amyloidosis: Brazilian family case study with confocal microscopy
We present three sisters with AGel amyloidosis, illustrating its clinical diversity. Patient 1, a 51-year-old, had bilateral ptosis, ocular discomfort, and dry eye syndrome due to cranial nerve involvement. Patient 2, a 53-year-old, experienced progressive bilateral visual impairment. Patient 3, a 50-year-old, exhibited right eye ectropion. Genetic analysis, with the identical mutation, heterozygous c.640G > A (p.Asp214Asn) mutation, confirmed AGel amyloidosis diagnoses, with common findings including lattice corneal amyloidosis, reduced corneal sensitivity, and recurrent corneal erosions. Neurological manifestations in...

Cystoid macular edema occurring after intracameral bimatoprost implantation
CONCLUSION: The use of bimatoprost implant may lead to the occurrence of CME. Ophthalmologists must vigilantly monitor patients post-implantation, especially if they exhibit visual symptoms or have risk factors for a CME.PMID:38619930 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247588 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Late-onset Kjellin syndrome: Diagnosis of SPG11 on fundus examination
CONCLUSION: Careful ophthalmological examination prompted the diagnosis and guided molecular testing. This case underlines the importance of a neuro-ophthalmologic assessment in patients with SPG.PMID:38613257 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247418 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)

Endocannabinoids and cortisol in plasma, aqueous and tear samples of primary angle closure glaucoma versus controls
CONCLUSIONS: Tear endocannabinoids were determined for the first time in PACG and normal with no difference between the two groups. Plasma and aqueous cortisol levels are a differentiating factor between normal and glaucoma patients with plasma endocannabinoids being remarkably higher in normals. Quality of life in glaucoma patients with high cortisol levels is poorer.PMID:38613316 | DOI:10.1177/11206721241247419 (Source: European Journal of Ophthalmology)
