Differential changes in expression of inflammatory mRNA and protein after oleic acid-induced acute lung injury
Conclusions: The change of proinflammatory cytokines IFN-γ and IL-6 expression is different comparing mRNA and plasma proteins at oleic acid-induced ARDS compared to baseline. The migration of cells to the lung may be the cause for this discrepancy.PMID:38625585 | DOI:10.1080/01902148.2024.2341099 (Source: Experimental Lung Research)

CLCA1 exacerbates lung inflammation via p38 MAPK pathway in acute respiratory distress syndrome
Exp Lung Res. 2024;50(1):85-95. doi: 10.1080/01902148.2024.2334262. Epub 2024 Apr 10.ABSTRACTRecent research has revealed that airway epithelial calcium-activated chloride channel-1 (CLCA1) is implicated in the inflammation of multiple human respiratory diseases, but the specific role in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) remains unknown. To investigate the role of CLCA1 in ARDS, 80 participants, including 26 ARDS patients, 26 patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and 28 control subjects, were enrolled in this study. As the result shows, the level of CLCA1 was significantly increased in ARDS patients and...

Exploring the role of oral microbiome dysbiosis in cardiometabolic syndrome and smoking
Exp Lung Res. 2024;50(1):65-84. doi: 10.1080/01902148.2024.2331185. Epub 2024 Mar 27.ABSTRACTOral microbiome research has gained significant interest in recent years due to its potential impact on overall health. Smoking has been identified as a significant modulator of the oral microbiome composition, leading to dysbiosis and possible health consequences. Research has primarily focused on the association between smoking and oral microbiome, as well as smoking's association with cardiometabolic syndrome (CMS). This narrative review presents an overview of the recent findings and current knowledge on the oral microbiome and...
