Frankfurt concept of early inpatient rehabilitation after cochlear implant treatment : Feasibility for aftercare
CONCLUSION: A very early start of inpatient rehabilitation after cochlear implantation was successfully implemented. The rehabilitation was completed within 7 weeks of CI surgery. Comparison of speech recognition test results before and after rehabilitation showed a significant improvement. A clear rehabilitation effect can therefore be demonstrated. Inclusion of CI rehabilitation in the German catalog of follow-up treatments is thus scientifically justified and therefore strongly recommended.PMID:38630310 | DOI:10.1007/s00106-024-01441-y (Source: HNO)

Open educational resources for otorhinolaryngology : A  pilot study on needs assessment and implementation
CONCLUSION: This project yielded the first OER from a German ENT department, tailored to the German medical curriculum. One significant barrier to OER use in medicine, more than in other fields, is data protection. This challenge can be navigated by obtaining consent to publish patient data as OER. OER hold the promise to play a pivotal role in fostering cooperation and collaboration among educators, aiding educators in lesson preparation, and simultaneously enhancing didactic quality.PMID:38625372 | DOI:10.1007/s00106-024-01465-4 (Source: HNO)

Importance of aspirin challenges in patients with NSAID-exacerbated respiratory disease
CONCLUSION: ASA challenges have high sensitivity and specificity. In clinical ASA challenge studies, there is a high concordance between a positive history of NSAID hypersensitivity obtained by rhinologists and the measured data of ASA challenge in patients with CRSwNP and comorbid asthma. Therefore, ASA challenge is primarily indicated in patients with an unclear history of NSAID hypersensitivity.PMID:38597968 | DOI:10.1007/s00106-024-01460-9 (Source: HNO)
