Using haematological indices to predict impaired liver function in DTC patients
CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that PC and ALC are independent predictors of hypo-related liver injury. Our study is the first to suggest that haematological indices can be used for predicting the development and progression of hypo-related liver disorders.PMID:38629813 | DOI:10.1967/s002449912700 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine)

A pictorial view on false positive findings of < sup > 68 < /sup > Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT and their prognostic value in patients with prostate carcinoma after radical prostatectomy and undetectable PSA values
CONCLUSION: The presence of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT-positive findings in patients after radical prostatectomy and an undetectable PSA had a low predictive value for future progression. The interpretation of 68Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT should always include a complex assessment of the clinical setting-the risk group, PSA value and degree of PSMA accumulation in the lesions. In these situations, further clarification of PSMA-positive findings is appropriate before deciding to change treatment.PMID:38629815 | DOI:10.1967/s002449912702 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine)

Head to head comparison of < sup > 68 < /sup > Ga-FAPI PET/CT with < sup > 18 < /sup > F-FDG PET/CT in primary and metastatic lesions of gastric tumor: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis concluded that 68Ga-FAPI PET/CT was significantly more sensitive than 18F-FDG PET/CT in assessing primary gastric tumors, lymph nodes, and distant metastases, but the difference in the specificity of lymph node metastasis was not significant.PMID:38629816 | DOI:10.1967/s002449912703 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine)

Hepatopulmonary syndrome: Case report of the evidence of intrapulmonary shunt on < sup > 99m < /sup > Tc-MAA scintigraphy and contrast transthoracic echocardiography
We report a 57-year-old woman with a history of liver cirrhosis presented with progressive cyanosis, exertional dyspnea and a dry cough. Oxyhemoglobin saturation was 88.5% on room air. Contrast transthoracic echocardiography (cTTE) and technetium-99m-macroaggregated albumin (99mTc-MAA) scintigraphy showed an intrapulmonary shunting and confirmed HPS.PMID:38629817 | DOI:10.1967/s002449912704 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine)

Multimodal radionuclide shuntography for device patency: New procedural tips for anuncommon historical technique
Hell J Nucl Med. 2024 Apr 18:s002449912705. doi: 10.1967/s002449912705. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunting is an established long-term treatment option for hydrocephalus, and is one of the most commonly performed neurosurgical procedures in western countries.Despite advances in CSF shunt design and management, its failure rates remain high and is most commonly due to obstruction and infection.Cerebrospinal fluidshunt failure diagnosis should be prompt and accurate in establishing timely if its revision is appropriate. Radionuclide shuntography with technetium-99m-diethylenetriaminepetaacetic a...

Cardiac involvement in muscular dystrophies: Role of myocardial perfusion imaging
Hell J Nucl Med. 2024 Apr 18:s002449912707. doi: 10.1967/s002449912707. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTechnetium-99m-methoxy isobutyl isonitrile (99mTc-MIBI) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is a functional imaging method with relatively poor specificity but high sensitivity. Wepresent 48-year-old man with cardiac involvement due to muscular dystrophies (MD). Myocardial perfusion imaging rest images revealed regional myocardial perfusion decrease in multiple walls, enlarged heart and decreased left ventricular systolic function. The lesion location of MPI was consistent with that seen on CMR. Our case showed MPI was usef...

Al < sup > 18 < /sup > F-NOTA-Octreotide outperforms < sup > 18 < /sup > F-FDG in identifying rare renal metastases from pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor
We presented a case involving a 56-year-old man who had been experiencing shoulder and back pain for over a year, with extensive bone metastases revealed by a bone scan. To identify the primary source of these issues, the patients underwent a fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan, which indicated moderate uptake in the right renal soft mass and low uptake in multiple osteolytic lesions. Pathological examination and immunohistochemical staining of the renal mass supported the diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors. Subsequently, a novel somatostatin receptor imag...

< sup > 18 < /sup > F-FDG PET/CT characterization and response evaluation in a case of lymphomatoid granulomatosis involving the main pulmonary artery
We described fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) findings in a case with LYG originated from the MPA. Fluorine-18-FDG PET/CT demonstrated nodular hypermetabolic foci in the MPA, corresponding well to the intraluminal filling defects on CT pulmonary angiography, and the secondary right heart dysfunction was observed. Final diagnosis was made after transcatheter MPA biopsies and multi-disciplinary consultation. The patient recovered completely following the steroid therapy and MPA stenting, which was illustrated on the second 18F-FDG PET/CT.PMID:38629822 | DOI:10...

Automatic synthesis of < sup > 18 < /sup > F-AV-45 and its clinical application in Alzheimer's disease
CONCLUSION: β-amyloid protein 18F-AV-45 imaging agent can be easily and quickly prepared by the All in One radiochemical synthesis module. Our preliminary results offer hope that it can effectively detect β-amyloid deposition in the brain of AD patients in order to determine the etiology of dementia.PMID:38149774 | DOI:10.1967/s002449912610 (Source: Hellenic Journal of Nuclear Medicine)

The role of < sup > 18 < /sup > F-FDG PET/CT imaging in paediatric Langerhans disease: Case report
Hell J Nucl Med. 2023 Sep-Dec;26(3):215-218. doi: 10.1967/s002449912611.ABSTRACTLangerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a haematological disorder, affecting single or multiple organs, characterized by abnormal proliferation of Langerhans cells in children. Accurate tumour delineation (number of lesions, organs involved) is crucial for staging/re-staging, and follow-up (response to therapy). Conventional imaging techniques (computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) have been employed for initial diagnosis, staging and assessment of response to therapy focusing on the healing effect therapeutic protocols hav...
