Potential Benefit of Rituximab in Rhupus Patients From a Single-Center: A Series of 16 Cases
Conclusions In rhupus refractory to conventional treatment, T or B lymphocytes targeted therapies, and particularly rituximab, seem to be a relevant therapeutic option unlike anticytokine biologics. (Source: JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology)

Does Cancer Masquerade as Sarcoidosis?
Conclusions Cancer masquerading as sarcoidosis is very rare occurring in 7 (0.7%) of our 1029 cases. In no case was lung cancer masquerading as sarcoidosis. Searching for occult malignancy in patients with a known diagnosis of sarcoidosis is rarely indicated. (Source: JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology)

Gout Screening Identifies a Large Cardiovascular Population at Increased Risk of Mortality
Conclusion Gout was an independent predictor of subsequent all-cause mortality in patients admitted for cardiovascular events. Active screening for gout allowed the detection of a larger population at high risk of mortality and could help tailor patient management to minimize the cardiovascular impact. Early Detection of First Carpometacarpal Joint Osteoarthritis Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging Assessment in Women With High Hypermobility Scores
Objective The aim of this study was to explore association between hypermobility and osteoarthritis (OA) at the first carpometacarpal (CMC) joint, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify early change in women at high risk of developing OA but without yet established diagnoses. Methods For this observational study, 33 women (aged 30–50 years) with self-reported history of maternal hand OA but without personal diagnoses of OA were recruited. Participants completed a 5-point hypermobility questionnaire. The 20 participants with 2 or more positive responses were categorized with “high hypermobility sc...

Probability of Medication Intensifications in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients With Low Disease Activity Scores on Their Patient-Reported Outcomes: A Medical-Records Review Study
Background Patients with rheumatoid arthritis require frequent consultations to monitor disease activity and intensify medication when treatment targets are not met. However, because most patients are in remission during follow-up, it should be possible to reduce the number of consultations for them. Electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) could be used to identify patients who meet their treatment goal and who could therefore be eligible to skip their visit. Objective The aim of this study was to assess the probability that patients with low disease activity scores on their ePROs do not need a disease-modi...

Predictors of Remission and Low Disease Activity in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients: Results From the Follow-up of a Real-World Peruvian Cohort
Background Clinical remission is the goal in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) management; however, this can be difficult to achieve in several parts of the world. Our objective was to determine predictors of remission and remission/low disease activity (LDA) in RA. Methods A longitudinal real-setting RA cohort was followed up (January 2016–2020). Predictors examined were sex, age at diagnosis, disease duration, socioeconomic status, tobacco use, rheumatoid factor titer, comorbidities (Charlson index), Simple Disease Activity Index (SDAI) score, disability (Multidimensional Disease Health Assessment Questionnaire), he...

Immunogenicity and Safety of SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination in Patients With Rheumatic Diseases: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Conclusion Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 appears to be safe. Most RD patients developed humoral immune response following vaccination. However, the odds of seroconversion were significantly lower in RD patients compared with controls. This is likely driven by certain immunosuppressants including rituximab and mycophenolate. Future studies need to identify strategies to improve vaccine response in these patients. Patients with rheumatic disease (RD) are at increased risk for COVID-19 infection. Large clinical trials have demonstrated efficacy and safety of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. However, patients with RD are typically ...
