Differential expression of miRNA patterns in renal cell carcinoma and nontumorous tissuesemail this articleEmail this article to a colleague. save this article to My ClippingsSave this article to My Clippings. discuss this articleDiscuss or comment on this article.
Conclusion  Quantitative real-time PCR analysis confirmed microarray data. The report supports that many miRNA expressions were altered in renal carcinoma, whose expression profiling may provide a useful clue for the pathophysiology research. However, further longer-term researches are required to investigate the relationship between miRNA and renal carcinoma as well as their role in carcinogenesis. The effect of endostatin mediated by human mesenchymal stem cells on ovarian cancer cells in vitroemail this articleEmail this article to a colleague. save this article to My ClippingsSave this article to My Clippings. discuss this articleDiscuss or comment on this article.
Conclusion  We found that MSCs possessed great migratory capacity in vitro and the human ovarian adenocarcinoma cell line SKOV3 could significantly induce the migration of MSCs. Our results provided evidence that MSCs could be utilized as a powerful delivery system of endostatin. The endostatin produced by MSC-EN cells could inhibit the proliferation of SKOV3 cells. Conclusions  Our study indicates a proportionally higher area of hyaluronan expression in DCIS with a microinvasive component than in pure DCIS, suggesting a key role of this glycosaminoglycan in the early invasive phase of breast carcinomas. Thus, hyaluronan could play an important function in determining the migratory phenotype of cancer cells. Larger size tumors appear to demonstrate an intricate balance between hyaluronan synthesis and degradation, thus conditioning intratumoral heterogeneity in the hyaluronan metabolism. Age as a prognostic factor for patients with osteosarcoma: an analysis of 438 patientsemail this articleEmail this article to a colleague. save this article to My ClippingsSave this article to My Clippings. discuss this articleDiscuss or comment on this article.
Conclusions  Age at diagnosis does not appear to be a significant independent prognostic variable for overall survival or disease-free survival in patients with osteosarcoma. Although our data indicate that patients in the fifth decade and older fare worse than younger patients, other variables such as tumor necrosis, tumor extension, and tumor location are likely responsible for the observed decline in overall survival and disease-free survival. Conclusions  These results demonstrate in a murine model that GDF-15 does not significantly regulate heritable in vivo intestinal carcinogenesis but does mediate sulindac chemoprevention in heritable colon cancer. These data suggest that the use of GDF-15 activated signaling pathways may allow improved chemoprevention and therapies for colorectal cancer.
