Wound-healing processes after pulpotomy in the pulp tissue of type 1 diabetes mellitus model rats
Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1) tend to have delayed wound healing, even in the pulp tissue. We hypothesized that hyperglycemia affects odontoblast-like cell (OLC) differentiation and is involved in macrophage polarization. Accordingly, we evaluated dental pulp stem cell differentiation and macrophage phenotypes after pulpotomy. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)

Insights into the December 2023 Issue of the JOE
To date, no study has evaluated the postoperative pain of calcium hydroxide sealer and calcium silicate root canal sealers. Thus, the authors of this investigation (1) compared postoperative pain of mandibular molars with symptomatic apical periodontitis using EndoSeal MTA (Maruchi, Wonju, Korea) against Sealapex (Kerr, Bioggio, Switzerland) (1). Sixty patients were randomly enrolled into two groups. Using non-parametric analysis ,the authors reported no statistical significant difference between the groups. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)

Evaluation of Pain Following the Use of Different Single-File Glide Path Systems: A Randomized Clinical Trial
This study aimed to evaluate postoperative pain intensity following glide-path preparation using the ProGlider (PG) and WaveOne Gold Glider (WOGG) systems in asymptomatic teeth with necrotic pulp and periapical lesions. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)

Pulp Regenerative Therapy using Autologous Dental Pulp Stem Cells in a Mature Tooth with Apical Periodontitis: A Case Report
The utility and feasibility of pulp regenerative therapy with autologous dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) in mature teeth with irreversible pulpitis were clinically demonstrated. On the other hand, there is no evidence of the utility of DPSCs in mature teeth with apical periodontitis. The aim of this case report is to describe the potential utility of regenerative cell therapy in mature teeth with apical periodontitis. A 44-year-old male was referred for the pulp regeneration of his maxillary first premolar with a periapical lesion. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)

Microstructural evaluation of the mineralized apical barrier induced by a calcium hydroxide paste containing iodoform: A case report
A 65-year-old man had nonsurgical retreatment using an iodoform and calcium hydroxide paste in a maxillary left canine with persistent apical periodontitis. An apical mineralized barrier (AMB) was observed 3-months postoperatively. Unfortunately, the tooth was extracted due to a cementum tear. This provided an opportunity to analyze the AMB histologically, as there is a lack of previous reports on its microstructure. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)

Diagnostic accuracy of a temporomandibular disorder pain screener in patients seeking endodontic treatment for tooth pain
This study assessed the accuracy of a TMD Pain Screener questionnaire in identifying patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) pain among those seeking endodontic treatment for tooth pain. It also investigated whether the screener accuracy could be improved by adding questions regarding putative predictors of TMD status. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)

4-Year Pulp Survival in a Randomized Trial on Direct Pulp Capping
This study aimed to assess pulp survival in a randomized trial on pulp lavage in adult nonpainful posterior teeth with carious pulp exposure. The treatment included complete caries excavation, direct pulp capping with mineral trioxide aggregate, and immediate restoration with composite resin. (Source: Journal of Endodontics)
