A youngest reported case of type II Monteggia lesion associated with a posterior ulnohumeral dislocation
We describe a case of a type 2 Monteggia variant in an adolescent. This injury pattern consisted of ulnohumeral dislocation in combination with type 2 Monteggia lesion. Effect of topical tranexamic acid on reducing blood loss in primary total knee arthroplasty in Southern Chinese population
The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of topical tranexamic acid (TA) on the postoperative blood loss and transfusion rate after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Two hundred ninety-six patients (n = 296) undergoing TKA in Pok Oi Hospital were included in this study from July 2015 to September 2016. Iliotibial band impingement by overhanging tibial tray: A pain generator after total knee replacement treatable without revision
We report a case of painful crepitus over Gerdy's tubercle after total knee replacement. Iliotibial band impingement by overhanging tibial tray was diagnosed. The symptom persisted despite physiotherapy and local corticosteroid injection. A combined arthroscopic and open approach was used to excise intraarticular scarring and release the impinged iliotibial band. Outcome of Haemodynamically Unstable Open Pelvic Fracture Patients Managed With “3-in-1” Pelvic Damage Control Protocol in a Major Trauma Centre
ConclusionOur hospital’s “3-in-1” pelvic damage control protocol improves the survival rate of patients suffering from haemodynamically unstable open fracture, including open fracture. External fixation of pelvis, retroperitoneal packing and emergency angiography with embolization play important and inseparable roles in management of these critical patients. Biological reconstruction of varus deformity in primary total knee replacement using bone graft and description of a new technique
We describe a new technique for correcting large tibial defect by using bone graft, where the uncontained defects were converted to contained defects using bone graft and the contained defect was impacted with cancellous bone. Between 2006 and 2010, 48 cases of primary total knee arthroplasty were reconstructed using autologous bone graft. Of 48 cases, five cases had large tibial defect and were treated with the new technique. Collapse was seen in one knee at 5 months postoperative.
