Synchronous pancreatic and scrotal tuberculosis: Double jeopardy
We describe a patient who presented with scrotal swelling followed by non-healing and discharging scrotal sinuses, following local trauma and was initially suspected to have an infected scrotal hematoma. An evaluation revealed it to be scrotal tuberculosis. He also complained of upper abdominal pain and on transabdominal ultrasonography was detected to have a mass in the head of the pancreas. Evaluation of the pancreatic mass revealed it to be pancreatic tuberculosis. Both lesions responded well to anti-tubercular therapy. This is an unusual case of two rare sites of extrapulmonary tuberculosis presenting simultaneously in...

Introduction of psychological skills laboratory in medical education
YY Chen, CH TingJournal of Postgraduate Medicine 2023 69(4):221-223 Depression and anxiety are common psychological issues among university students, yet many of them hesitate to seek professional help due to stigma. To address this gap, we introduced the Psychological Skills Lab (PSL) component in the undergraduate medical curriculum, which emphasizes experiential learning to promote self-determination and autonomy in health promotion. The lab allows active interaction among students...

R Ranjan, S Nath, S Jha, VL NarasimhaJournal of Postgraduate Medicine 2023 69(4):215-220 Single parent adoption (SPA) is a relatively new construct worldwide and in India. There is scant literature on this topic of SPA, more so in India, that looks into the various psychological nuances of SPA from a mental health professional's (MHP) perspective. This review paper aims to assess SPA from the ...

Trends of surgical-care delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic: A multi-centre study in India (IndSurg Collaboration)
Conclusions: The present study has quantified the effects of the pandemic on surgical-care delivery across a timeline and documented a reduction in overall surgical volumes during the peaks of the pandemic (Wave I and II) with minimal improvement as the surge of COVID-19 cases declined (Recovery II). The surgical volumes improved during the second wave compared to the first one which may be attributable to better preparedness. Cesarean sections were affected the least.
