Intracranial Arteriovenous Malformation Combined with Multiple Aneurysms Diagnosed by CTA: A Case Report
We report a distinctive case of intracranial AVM combined with multiple IAs and partial protrusion of a cavernous segment aneurysm of the right internal carotid artery into the optic nerve canal.Teaching Point: Cases of partial protrusion of a cavernous segment aneurysm of the right internal carotid artery into the optic canal, resulting in widening of the optic canal compared to the contralateral side, compression, thickening and swelling of the subocular veins, and obstruction of venous drainage warrant the clinician ’s attention. Pulmonary Artery Sling Blurs the Distal Trachea on Frontal Chest Radiography
Teaching Point: The pulmonary artery sling can be suspected on frontal chest radiography, not only by ancillary findings like lobe/lung emphysema or persisting atelectasis, but also blurring of the distal trachea or carina. Different Faces of Rathke ’s Cleft Cyst
Rathke ’s cleft cysts (RCC) are rare benign cystic lesions that might present with different imaging features, potentially posing a problem in the radiological diagnosis of cystic sellar lesions. The purpose of this pictorial review is to present an overview of the radioclinical features of RCC through f our clinical cases with different radiologic findings confirmed by pathology, as well as reviewing the common differential diagnosis to be considered. The subjects are women, aged 11 to 73 who underwent recent transsphenoidal surgical resection with a postoperative follow-up period of a few months to three years. Publishe...

Atypical MRI Presentation of High-Grade Chondrosarcoma in the Proximal Femur
Teaching Point: Although magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a considerable role in the detection and differentiation of chondrosarcoma (e.g., by cortical breakthrough, peritumoral soft tissue edema, and extra-osseous extension), it is important to be aware of atypical features of common bone tumors. Intestinal Hemangiomatosis: Case Report of an Uncommon Cause of Rectal Bleeding
A four-month-old girl presented with recurrent low gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Abdominal ultrasound showed diffuse parietal thickening and hyperemia of the colon. Computed tomography (CT) demonstrated diffuse thickening of the colon but also intense arterial globular mural enhancement with diffuse filling in the portal phase. Colonoscopy revealed multiple pseudopolipoid lesions along the colon which were histologically diagnosed as hemangiomas. The infant was diagnosed with gastrointestinal hemangiomatosis and was treated with propranolol resulting in complete resolution of symptoms.Teaching point: Although rare, the poss...

Central Pulmonary Embolism Detected on a Chest X-Ray: A Case Report
Patients presenting to the emergency room with respiratory symptoms often receive a chest X-ray as part of the initial workup to exclude common pathologies. A 60-year-old patient presented to the emergency department with dyspnoea. An initial chest X-ray revealed the Fleischner ’s sign, the knuckle sign, and the Westermark sign, specific but not sensitive for central pulmonary embolism, prompting a follow-up angio CT to confirm the diagnosis. The patient was treated and discharged a few days later. Teaching point:Chest X-rays, done as part of an initial workup, can show signs of pathologies that are not yet clinically s...

Multicentric Carpo-Tarsal Osteolysis
MCTO is a rare autosomal-dominant inherited disorder that causes bone destruction and deformity of the appendicular bones in children, with the carpal and tarsal bones severely affected. Imaging can narrow the differential diagnosis between MTCO and other diseases that cause osteolysis of the joints in children. The MCTO diagnosis is confirmed by a mutation of the MAFB gene.Teaching Point: Multicentric carpo-tarsal osteolysis (MTCO) in childhood must be considered in the differential diagnosis of severe osteolysis on radiographs. The Hammock Sign in Computed Tomography as a Detection Aid for Bicuspid Aortic Valves
Conclusion: The hammock sign allows for a quick and easy diagnosis of an anatomical bicuspid aortic valve, merely by scrolling through the standard coronal reconstructions of any type of contrast-enhanced thoracic CT study, and regardless of any other findings associated with bicuspid aortic valve. Functional bicuspid aortic valves were not the scope of this study. Published on 2023-01-23 09:58:25 (Source: Journal of the Belgian Society of Radiology)
