Influence of selecting EPI readout-encoding bandwidths on arterial spin labeling perfusion MRI
Email this article to a colleague.
Save this article to My Clippings.
Discuss or comment on this article.
Conclusions Although N2 ghosting can be reduced by adjusting the bandwidth of EPI on the time-series of PWI data, the effects cannot be
entirely eliminated. In particular, N2 ghosting can bias CBF quantification if EPI control scans to determine the equilibrium-state
signal are confounded by N2 ghosting. Therefore, careful tuning of the bandwidth of EPI is necessary to avoid artifacts in
the ASL signal from N2-ghosting.

Conclusions The prediction of the tumor type of in-vivo MRS is possible using classifiers developed from previously acquired data, in
different hospitals with different instrumentation under the same acquisition protocols. This methodology may find application
for assisting in the diagnosis of new brain tumor cases and for the quality control of multicenter MRS databases.

Combined 1H and 31P MR spectroscopic imaging: impaired energy metabolism in severe carotid stenosis and changes upon treatment

Conclusion This spectroscopic study reveals that unilateral high-grade ICA stenosis has an effect on cerebral high-energy metabolism
of both hemispheres, which is at least partially reversible after treatment. Therefore the restoration of blood flow in high-grade
ICA stenosis recovers the impaired energy balance of the brain.

Conclusion Appropriate data processing of short and long TE 1H MRSI provides a tool to distinguish and to quantify Gly and MI concentrations in gliomas. As Gly seems to be a marker of
malignancy, more dedicated spectroscopic methods to differentiate these metabolites are justified.
