MedWorm provides personalised OPML files from the My Favourite Feeds view

Subscribe to any of the RSS feeds in MedWorm by clicking on the orange MedWorm icon and then click on the My Favourite Feeds view on the menu. From there you will see a blue OPML icon. Right click on the icon and select 'Save Target As' and then save the file as type 'XML' to your own computer. Then import that file into your chosen feed reader to easily load all your favourite MedWorm feeds.

Navigating to the Sources page in any of the MedWorm directories now also gives access to an OPML file, which can be used to import all the MedWorm sources from the directory into your favourite RSS reader. Just save the OPML file to your computer by right-clicking on the OPML blue icon and selecting 'Save Target As...', and then import the file from your computer into your chosen feed reader.

It is now possible to receive updates to your favourite MedWorm medical feeds via email. First register with MedWorm by giving an email address, user name and password of your choice. Then subscribe to any of the thousands of feeds you see listed in MedWorm, by clicking on the My MedWorm chicklet next to a feed listing. Finally click on My Account to select how often you would like updates emailed to you.

Thank-you for your patience over the past few weeks - MedWorm was getting to be very slow in returning your search results, due to increased popularity of the site. The MedWorm server has now been upgraded, which has seen much improved performance. You will now see query results return much faster, and all RSS feeds updating more frequently.

You can now browse all the medical sources that are included in MedWorm via either the Publications Directory or the Blog Directory. To view all official publications, click on Publications Directory on the menu, and then choose a medical speciality. You can also view all the latest items from all the publications in that speciality by then clicking on the River of News tab. To view all medical blogs, click on Blogs Directory on the menu, choose a blog category and you will see the River of News for that category. To view the individual blogs, click on the Sources tab. Items are listed in order of their last update.

Filter functionality by feed category is now available in MedWorm. After running a query you will see a 'Filter' link to the right of the search results, underneath the sort by Date/Relevance link. Clicking on the Filter link will give you a break down of the categories available within your search results. To view the results for any one of those categories click on the hyperlink of that category. Alternatively, to view combined results, select the check boxes of the categories that you wish to view and then click on the Filter button at the bottom right of the list. Medical Blogs Tag Clouds

Tag clouds are now available for all the medical blogs in MedWorm. Tags can be viewed in a variety of formats, for different time periods: week, month, or year. Clicking on any of the tags will take you to all the blog items with that tag and will also give you access to an RSS feed for those items, which will be updated twice daily.

It is now possible to view and get rss feeds for medical blogs by category on MedWorm. Blogs include those from both physicians and patients. Patient blogs have been categorised by their medical conditions or illnesses, which are the first listed categories; new categories related to particular conditions will be added over the coming weeks. Blogs by medical professionals are found mostly under the categories related to career titles, ie. It is now possible to search MedWorm and create RSS feeds by data type. All MedWorm data sources have been given one of the following types: news, consumer, journals, organizations, info(medical websites that do not fall into any of the other categories), blogs. You can search within any combination of these types by selecting or deselecting the check boxes alongside to the search button. By default, all types are selected apart from the Blogs category. Alternatively, should you wish to search within just one of the data types, after entering your search text in the search box, click on the hyperlink of your chosen category.

A new 'Speciality' link has been added below each item returned when searching MedWorm, or browsing its categories, to let you know from which of MedWorm's specialities each feed item belongs. The only place where this link has not been implemented is in the Specialities category itself, since such information would be redundant there.

The MedWorm server upgrade is now complete, but due to domain name propogation you may still be visiting the old server for the next day or two - it will take a couple of days for everything to settle down and for all feeds to be fully up to date.

Many MedWorm users are now taking advantage of being able to create their own RSS feeds from their MedWorm searches. However, we have noticed that more than half of the feeds created could be improved upon since many searches include spelling mistakes, redundant words, or do not include all variations of words. Additional blog functionality that has recently been implemented on LibWorm.com is now been rolled out to MedWorm.com. This will include the addition of medical blogs, which will be categorised, with each category having its own outgoing RSS feed, and the implementation of tag clouds. MedWorm is currently undergoing a server upgrade. Feed updates have been temporarily stopped until all is complete. Some user generated feeds may also stop working for a short while. Apologies for the inconvenience - after which you should start to notice some real improvements in performance.
