For millions of women, hot flashes are frequent, severe, and bothersome events that can interfere with daily life and negatively influence mood, affect, and/or sleep. A recent National Institutes of Health state-of-the-science conference concluded that additional data are needed on the efficacy and appropriateness of non-hormonal hot flash treatments. The randomized, controlled trial evaluates a DVD-based at-home breathing training and practice program to evaluate efficacy for hot flashes.

Hormone Therapy May Reduce Risk of Colon Cancer

University of Minnesota School of Public Health researchers found women who take hormone therapy for menopause symptoms may reduce their risk of colorectal cancer by up to 45%. The findings are published in the journal, Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention and reported in the January 7th, 2009 edition of the Telegraph.co.uk.

A certified plastic surgery nurse, her passion for plastic surgery led her to be the first Canadian president of the American Society of Plastic Surgery Nurses.
