Instantaneous wave-free ratio-guided revascularization of non-culprit lesion in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction and multivessel coronary disease: design and rationale of the WAVE registry.
CONCLUSIONS: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the long-term clinical impact of an iFR-guided revascularization of the non-culprit lesions in STEMI patients with multivessel coronary artery disease. PMID: 33427419 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Left ventricular global longitudinal strain assessment in patients with Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy: a call for an echocardiography-based classification.
CONCLUSIONS: A new classification of TCC based on strain analysis should be developed. The traditional model is arbitrary; it fails to recognize that in most patients the entire LV is affect, it does not have prognostic significance and the most prevalent typical variant indicates apical involvement. Our study suggests that the entire LV is affected, and strain analysis has prognostic significance. PMID: 33427420 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Diabetic cardiomyopathy and inflammation: development of hostile microenvironment resulting in cardiac damage.
Authors: Elia E, Ministrini S, Carbone F, Montecucco F Abstract Diabetes mellitus is emerging as a major risk factor for heart failure. Diabetic cardiomyopathy is defined as a myocardial dysfunction that is not caused by underlying hypertension or coronary artery disease. Studies about clinical features, natural history and outcomes of the disease are few and often conflicting, because a universally accepted operative definition of diabetic cardiomyopathy is still lacking. Hyperglycemia and related metabolic and endocrine disorders are the triggering factors of myocardial damage in diabetic cardiomyopathy ...

Clinical features and outcomes between African American and Caucasian patients with Takotsubo Syndrome.
CONCLUSIONS: Despite experiencing the same rate of in-hospital complications, the clinical profiles of AA patients are distinct from CAU patients admitted for TS, and clinical variables correlated with worse in-hospital outcomes also differ by race. A randomized trial of flow-mediated dilation to prevent radial artery spasm during transradial approach.
CONCLUSIONS: Prepuncture FMD can significantly reduce RAS during transradial coronary interventions. Thus, prepuncture FMD can be used as a simple adjunctive method to prevent RAS. PMID: 33427425 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher] (Source: Minerva Cardioangiologica)

Extrasystolic arrhythmia: is it an additional risk factor of atherosclerosis?
CONCLUSIONS: Extrasystolic arrhythmia is an additional risk factor of main arteries atherosclerosis. Especially this thesis is fair for the extrasystoles that appear in cardiocycle before the mitral valve opening and in fast ventricles' filling phase. Antiplatelet strategies in acute coronary syndromes: design and methodology of an international collaborative network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
CONCLUSIONS: An international collaborative network meta-analysis has begun to comprehensively analyze the safety and efficacy of prasugrel, ticagrelor and clopidogrel, each on a background of aspirin, for management of patients with ACS. It is our hope that the rigor and breadth of the undertaking described herein will provide novel insights that will inform optimal patient care for patients with ACS treated conservatively, or undergoing revascularization.
