Mutation Profile via Next-Generation Sequencing in Patients with Colorectal Adenocarcinoma and Its Clinicopathological Correlation
CONCLUSION: It is necessary to have a comprehensive database of genomic alterations of colorectal carcinomas to interpret mutations more accurately clinically. There are no studies on the frequency of mutations in colorectal carcinomas in the Turkish population; thus, follow-up and treatment protocols are organized following the European and American databases and guidelines. A comprehensive study of the colorectal carcinoma patients' mutation profile in the Turkish patient cohort by the next-generation sequencing method will help to provide significant therapeutic, prognostic, and predictive data and design more successfu...

Older Men, The Patient-Physician Relationship, and Patient Involvement
This study investigates older men's experiences with physicians, their perceptions of the patient-physician relationship, and the extent to which they wished to be involved in their health care. In-depth, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 23 men 55-96 years of age. Findings reveal that older men want to participate in the medical encounter and be involved in their care, contradicting earlier work suggesting that older adults prefer to be passive patients. Preferred involvement, however, varied along a continuum ranging from "quasi-involvement" to "taking charge", with most participants being in the middle, prefer...

Age differences in emotion regulation strategy use and flexibility in daily life
CONCLUSION: The current findings provide early evidence of age-related decreases in emotion regulation flexibility as well as age-related shifts in the adaptiveness of emotion regulation patterns.PMID:37735914 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2256245

Understanding the social and leisure needs of lonely and socially isolated older adults living in residential care: a qualitative study
Conclusion: Loneliness and social isolation are idiographic experiences. Contributors to loneliness and social isolation are also reported as barriers to attending programming. Recommendations are made, many of which rely on greater staffing resources and psychoeducation.PMID:37735879 | DOI:10.1080/13607863.2023.2258828

Pregnancy and progression of differentiated thyroid cancer: A propensity score-matched retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Pregnancy seemed to be irrelevant to DTC progression-free survival before surgical treatment. Further prospective cohort studies are needed to translate this finding into clinical practice.PMID:37738427 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgad557

Vitamin D deficiency increases vulnerability to canagliflozin-induced adverse effects on 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D and PTH
CONCLUSIONS: VitD deficiency rendered individuals more vulnerable to adverse effects of canagliflozin on biomarkers associated with bone health. VitD3 supplementation was protective against canagliflozin's short-term adverse effects on 1,25(OH)2D and PTH.PMID:37738423 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgad554

Trends in Prevalence of Thyroid Dysfunction and its Associations with Mortality Among US Participants, 1988-2012
CONCLUSION: The prevalence of subclinical thyroid dysfunction remained relatively unchanged, while that of overt thyroid dysfunction decreased. Subclinical hypothyroidism was associated with a higher mortality among individuals aged 65 years or older.PMID:37738422 | DOI:10.1210/clinem/dgad558

Morphologic Variability of Bone and Soft Tissue in Microtia With Hemifacial Microsomia
Conclusion: There was a high correlation between bone and soft tissue hypoplasia at the retroauricular mastoid area, while the other evaluated areas showed poor correlation between skeletal and soft tissue asymmetries. Clinicians should assess each component separately for optimal treatment planning in microtia patients with HFM.PMID:37735888 | DOI:10.1177/01455613231197768
