Buying Gold Standard
Think anyone buying this book should be aware of this as a matter of principle! The Discipline Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario heard this matter at Toronto on April 11, 2005. At the conclusion of the hearing, the Committee delivered its decision and order in writing. The Committee found that Dr. Brett Lennox Ferdinand committed an act of professional misconduct. The Committee also found that Dr. Ferdinand is incompetent. ' cpso.on.ca/public-register/doctor-details.aspx?view=4&id=%2073208 (Source: New Media Medicine)

Need a med student to check your personal statement?
Hey! Just wanted to advertise my expertise and advice on medical personal statements to anyone wanting it! I will be starting medicine this September and I remember all too clearly the stress of personal statements and Ucas! I also remember how invaluable it was to get my personal statement checked by other people who had gone through the system themselves. So if you are looking for someone to check your personal statement, just send me a message and I can DM you my email address. I also have a pack of personal statements from other med students from various unis, including oxbridge, ucl and imperial, which they have kin...

Mature student in Scotland 2:2 degree....need advice
Hi guys. I graduated in 2009 with a LLB (Honours) degree with a 2:2; which was disappointing but given that I had been a very serious accident in my 1st year of uni (that left me three months in hospital and with permanent health problems as a result) had endured a lot of invasive surgery and pain; I thought that it was still a solid degree and a solid achievement. Regrettably it would appear that this is a sentiment not shared by medical schools, and the reason for this is that it would seem that they only consider your 1st degree and nothing else. That is their perogative and although this is frustrating and disappoint...

Applying for Medicine as a Biomedical Sciences graduate
Hi, I'm about to start third year of Biomedical Sciences and I'm trying to figure out whether to continue with this career or apply for medicine. I was wondering if anyone who has studied Medicine after graduating from Biomed could help me with a few things. Tuition Fees Loan: I've read on several websites about the NHS bursaries and the Student Finance Loans, I would like to know if anyone has applied for those and how difficult it is to get them. University Options Reccomendations: I was wondering if you would recommend applying for some specific universities according to the number of places they offer, admission re...

Evening / Weekend A Level Classes in London?
Hi all I am a 29yo full time professional working in London and want to take the Chemistry A Level. My first instinct is to self-study, but I was schooled abroad so never took any A Levels. As such, I think it may help to attend some sort of structured class. The issue is I work until 7-10pm or so during the week, so can't make most evening classes. This can be flexible, but I certainly can't make 2x630pm classes per week (Campbell Harris). Does anyone know of anywhere that offers later classes, once a week classes or weekend classes? Or should I just self-study? Thank you! (Source: New Media Medicine)

foundation year or undergraduate degree?
Is it more advisable to take a foundation year in medicine rather than doing a degree in a different subject and then applying for medicine as a graduate? Are there any entrance criteria which would prevent someone from taking the foundation year option? (Source: New Media Medicine)

ST3 post in Cardiology as german internist
Hi everyone, I am german doctor in training (Assistenzärztin) in internal medicine in Switzerland and I will complete my training in Autumn 2017. After that, I would like to apply for a training post in cardiology or acute medicine as a specialist register (GMC). I have already got contact with the JRCPTB and GMC. GMC | Applying for entry onto the Specialist Register or GP Register I will only need an alternative certificate of my training in Germany and in Switzerland for the application process for ST3. It seems, I won't need to take the MRCP examinations, as I will apply as an EEA citizen and specialist. However, I...

Provisional registration query
Hi guys. I hope you guys could help me in this. I am applying for the foundation programme as EU medical student. So far, I was able to meet all the eligibility criteria , until I encountered a massive problem with GMC provisional registration with a licence to practise. I am fully eligible for the provisional registration as I haven't done any internship. Please could anyone shed any light on the process of getting provisional registration. Do I have to qualify and have the dipoloma in my hand to apply or I still could apply as a student of the final year. Cheers. (Source: New Media Medicine)
