Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy Integrated with Three-Dimensional Fluoroscopy for Sampling Bilateral Pulmonary Nodules in a Single Procedure
We present a case where intraoperative 3D fluoroscopy images were integrated to the robotic bronchoscopy navigation system, resulting in a single, dynamic, real-time 3D virtual plan showing readjusted paths toward the lesion displayed in the robotic bronchoscopy navigation system, allowing in this case, biopsying two bilateral pulmonary nodules, resulting in different diagnosis within the same endoscopic procedure.Respiration (Source: Respiration)

Survival-Adjusted FEV1 and BMI Percentiles for Patients with Cystic Fibrosis before the Era of Triple CFTR Modulator Therapy in Germany
Conclusions: Continuously updated disease-specific FEV1 and BMI percentiles with correction for survival may serve as age-independent measure of disease severity in CF (accessible viahttps://cfpercentiles.statup.solutions).Respiration (Source: Respiration)

Additional Up-Front Thoracic Ultrasound in the Workup of Patients with Unilateral Pleural Effusion: A Prospective Observational Pilot Study
Conclusions: Additional up-front, systematic TUS had limited clinically relevant effect on the planned diagnostic workup in patients with unilateral pleural effusion in a setting where chest CT scans often are available at referral.Respiration (Source: Respiration)

How Informed Are German Patients with Pulmonary Sarcoidosis about Their Disease?
Conclusions: A relevant proportion of patients with sarcoidosis are inadequately informed about their own disease, particularly with regard to factors impeding quality of life such as fatigue. Efforts are needed to improve the level and quality of information.Respiration (Source: Respiration)

Mechanical Insufflation-Exsufflation: The Rest of the Story
Mechanical insufflation-exsufflation has been reported to decrease pneumonia rates by about 90% for patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy now living into their 40s and 50s without tracheotomy tubes. It greatly reduces respiratory complications and hospitalization rates to less than one per 10 patient-years for advanced spinal muscular atrophy type 1, through 25 –30 years of age. It is most successful from the point at which small children become able to cooperate with it, generally from 3 to 5 years of age. However, since the 1950s, successful use to extubate and decannulate ventilator “unweanable” patients with ...

Bronchoscopic Evaluation of a Steerable Needle for Simulated Tumor Targets in the Lung Periphery: A Feasibility Study (Bullseye)
Conclusion: The steerable needle was successfully placed within 93% of targeted lesions 10 –30 mm in diameter in a cadaveric model, with the ability steer the instrument into another portion of the lesion in 80% of cases. The ability to steer and control needle positioning toward and within peripheral lesions may complement existing catheter and scope technology during peripheral diagno stic procedures.Respiration (Source: Respiration)

A Randomized Controlled Trial: Examining the Impact of the Novel Double Setup Endotracheal Tube on the Success Rates of Awake Fiber-Optic Orotracheal Intubation
Conclusions: Our study discovered that the novel double setup tube could significantly improve the intubation success rate on the first attempt during AFOI for patients with challenging airway when a strategy based on a reduced gap between ETT and FB could not be applied.Respiration (Source: Respiration)

Prediction of Time to Next Therapeutic Thoracentesis and Identification of Risk Factors of Rapid Pleural Fluid Recurrence: A Prospective Observational Study
Conclusion: Patients and physicians were equally unable to predict the time to next therapeutic thoracentesis. Daily fluid production and large effusion size were associated with increased risk of rapid pleural fluid recurrence, while septations were associated with a decreased risk. This may guide patients and physicians in when to expect a need for therapeutic thoracentesis.Respiration (Source: Respiration)

The Role of Pulmonary Function Testing and Lung Imaging in the Long-Term Follow-Up of Patients with COVID-19 Pneumonia Role of Pulmonary Function Tests and High-Resolution Computed Tomography in Post-COVID-19 Interstitial Lung Disease
Conclusions: Our study highlights the importance of PFTs in the long-term follow-up of patients affected by moderate to critical COVID-19 pneumonia. Further studies are needed to confirm our hypothesis that HRCT should be performed only in patients with PFTs abnormalities.Respiration (Source: Respiration)
