Dosimetric comparison of advanced radiation techniques for scalp-sparing in low-grade gliomas
ConclusionOur study provides evidence that the SO approach is a  feasible technique for reducing scalp radiation dose. However, it is imperative to conduct prospective trials to assess the benefits associated with this approach. (Source: Strahlentherapie und Onkologie)

DEGRO guideline for personalized radiotherapy of brain metastases and leptomeningeal carcinomatosis in patients with breast cancer
Conclusion and recommendationsDespite the fact that the biological subtype of breast cancer influences both the occurrence and relapse patterns of breast cancer brain metastases (BCBM), for most scenarios, no specific recommendations regarding radiotherapy can be made based on the existing evidence. For a  limited number of BCBM (1–4), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) or fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) is generally recommended irrespective of molecular subtype and concurrent/planned systemic therapy. In patients with 5–10 oligo-brain metastases, these techniques can also be condition ally recommended. For ...

Major complications after intraoperative radiotherapy with low-energy x-rays in early breast cancer
ConclusionIORT is an efficient and safe treatment method as<  2.5% of all IORT patients experienced major local complications. However, it seems to pose the risk of causing severe local complications that may require lengthy and burdensome treatment. Thorough preoperative counseling, implementation of recommended intraoperative precautions, and high vigilan ce for first symptoms of complications during follow-up appointments are necessary measures. Long-term survival in patients with brain metastases —clinical characterization of a rare scenario
ConclusionIn this monocentric setting reflecting daily pattern of care, LTS with BM is heterogeneous and difficult to predict. Effective local treatment and modern systemic therapies often appear crucial for LTS. The impact of concomitant diseases and frailty is not clear. (Source: Strahlentherapie und Onkologie)

Intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) of early breast cancer with low-energy x-rays in breast-conserving surgery
ConclusionWe observed that preoperative ultrasound-based tumor –skin distance is a significant factor in addition to already known parameters to predict feasibility of IORT. Based on our findings we developed a formula to optimize IORT planning which might serve as an additional tool to improve patient selection for IORT in early breast cancer. Post-mastectomy reirradiation for ipsilateral T3N0M0 breast tumor relapse: a  population-based study
ConclusionFor patients undergoing total mastectomy after an ipsilateral T3N0M0 breast tumor recurrence, subsequent to initial breast cancer treatment involving breast-conserving surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy, chest wall reirradiation does not enhance survival outcomes. As such, it should not be routinely performed. (Source: Strahlentherapie und Onkologie)
