Safety and feasibility pilot study of continuous low-dose maternal supplemental oxygen in fetal single ventricle heart disease
CONCLUSIONS: This pilot phase 1 clinical trial indicates low-dose maternal supplemental oxygen therapy is safe and well tolerated in pregnancies diagnosed with fetal SVP. However, our protocol was not associated with any significant changes in fetal circulatory physiology or improvements in early neurologic or neurodevelopmental outcomes. Maternal prepregnancy weight as an independent risk factor for congenital heart defects: systematic review and meta-analysis stratified by cardiac defect subtypes and severity
CONCLUSIONS: Maternal weight emerged as a crucial modifiable risk factor for preventing CHDs, particularly the severe forms. Future research is needed to investigate whether weight management prior to pregnancy might serve as a preventive measure against CHDs. Additionally, for pregnant women with obesity, fetal echocardiography ought to be a routine diagnostic procedure. This article is protected by copyright. Fetal aortic valvuloplasty for critical aortic stenosis: single-center retrospective study focusing on postnatal outcome
CONCLUSION: FAV for critical aortic stenosis led to anterograde aortic flow in 89.6% of the fetuses, with BVC being achieved in 48.3% (73.7% of the live born). Among patients with BVC at birth, the rate of reintervention is high but long-term survival is satisfactory. This article is protected by copyright.
