Profile of adverse drug reactions reported via the Continuum+ platform: Results from three-year regional follow-up
Therapie. 2024 Apr 10:S0040-5957(24)00042-8. doi: 10.1016/j.therap.2024.04.001. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn 2017, the Continuum+ platform was launched to provide a monitoring solution to home-based cancer care patients: AKO@dom monitoring. This platform also offers the follow-up of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) via direct notification to regional centers of pharmacovigilance (RCPVs). According to previous studies, the AKO@dom monitoring has successfully maintained treatment at the maximum effective dosage, managing ADRs and patient satisfaction. However, on the pharmacovigilance side, opinions are more divided. Due to...

Discordance between pain specialists and patients on the perception of dependence on pain medication: A multi-centre cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: Medical shared-decision for changing pain treatment could be improved by taking into account the perception of patient dependence on medications for pain relief and or psychoactive effects, particularly in nociplastic pain for which the treatment is challenging.PMID:38653623 | DOI:10.1016/j.therap.2024.01.008 (Source: Therapie)

Evaluation of the satisfaction of healthcare professionals using the CRAT website, and launch of a new version
Therapie. 2024 Apr 2:S0040-5957(24)00041-6. doi: 10.1016/j.therap.2024.03.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn preparation for a new version of the CRAT (Centre de référence sur les agents tératogènes) website, an evaluation of user satisfaction was carried out. An invitation to complete an online questionnaire covering the various dimensions of the website (appearance, content, interactivity, ease of use, technical performance) was sent in April 2022 to healthcare professionals who referred to CRAT for clinical expertise over the previous two years. After sending out 3224 individual e-mail invitations, 758 evaluators...

Impact of the vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 campaign on disproportionality indicator from the WHO pharmacovigilance database: A competition bias study from case/non-case analysis
CONCLUSION: We show that a health crisis involving a change in drug use can affect adverse drug reactions reporting and pharmacovigilance databases, leading to competition bias and a change in the disproportionality analyses. For health professionals who use quantitative disproportionality analysis, it is important not only to use the crude values of indicators but also the kind of PTs and the evolution of the signal over time (take into account major events such as crises).PMID:38584049 | DOI:10.1016/j.therap.2024.03.002 (Source: Therapie)
