Challenges and pitfalls in the management of endocrine toxicities from immune checkpoint inhibitors: a case presentation of synchronous thyrotoxicosis and primary adrenal insufficiency in a melanoma patient
CONCLUSIONS: The simultaneous occurrence of adrenal and thyroid autoimmune diseases, resembling autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type 2, may occur as a rare but serious side effect of ICI treatment. It often presents with abrupt onset and rapid evolution towards polyglandular insufficiency. Physicians should be aware of the potential association of two or more endocrine disorders and careful monitoring of endocrine function is needed during ICI therapy.PMID:38421588 | DOI:10.1007/s42000-024-00535-0 (Source: Hormones)

Causal effect of gut microbiota of Defluviitaleaceae on the clinical pathway of “Influenza–Subacute Thyroiditis–Hypothyroidism”
ConclusionDefluviitaleaceae of the gut microbiota displays the probability of causally inhibiting the clinical pathway of “Influenza–Subacute Thyroiditis–Hypothyroidism” and acts as the potential probiotics to prevent influenza, subacute thyroiditis, and hypothyroidism. Unraveling the connection between Hashimoto ’s Thyroiditis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: exploring the role of CD4+central memory T cells through integrated genetic approaches
ConclusionThis study delves into the potential connections between HT and NAFLD through integrated genetic methods. Our research reveals an elevated proportion of CD4+CM cells within T cells in both HT and NAFLD. Through MR and colocalization analysis, we identify specific genes causally linked to HT and NAFLD, such as MAGI3. Ultimately, based on MAGI3 expression levels, we categorize CD4+CM cells into MAGI3+CD4+CM cells and MAGI3−CD4+CM cells, uncovering significant differences between them through functional analyses. A Unique Complication Of Thyroidectomy For Hashimoto's Thyroiditis: Central Retinal Artery Thrombosis
ConclusionAlthough it is extremely rare, it should be noted that patients may experience retinal artery occlusion following the thyroid surgery. Immediate evaluation of patients with visual impairment in the early postoperative period, and planning of emergent hyperbaric oxygen therapy for the management are critical.PMID:38391299 | DOI:10.1080/00015458.2024.2323286 (Source: Acta Chirurgica Belgica)

Sustained control of recalcitrant chronic spontaneous urticaria after initiation of inflammatory airway diseases treatment: two case reports
ConclusionsWe suggest a novel approach of controlling remote epithelial site inflammation in these two cases that resulted in sustained-control of urticaria symptoms without the need for systemic corticosteroids or immunosuppressant. The changes of autoimmune antibodies might be the consequences of tolerance breaking from chronic lower airway inflammation as observed in other epithelial inflammatory condition like in celiac disease and rheumatoid arthritis.
