“Digital Tomosynthesis” As a Technique for the Evaluation of Endobronchial Stents in Lung Transplant Recipients
We present a series of 4 postlung transplant patients with bronchial stents in whom we performed DTS and chest x-ray simultaneously. The DTS images were far superior to chest x-ray and comparable with CT in evaluating the placement and patency of the stents, especially in the case of silicone stents. Furthermore, the improved resolution provided clinically relevant diagnostic information that resulted in therapeutic bronchoscopy for suctioning of mucus impaction in one of the patients. Relevance of Anti-HLA Antibody Strength Underestimation in Single Antigen Bead Assay for Shared Eplets
Conclusions. We noticed only a nonsignificant difference in the Ab MFI signal due to eplet sharing on the SAB assay. We, therefore, conclude that this phenomenon should no longer be considered as a significant risk factor during patient follow-up pre- or posttransplantation. (Source: Transplantation)

Impact of Sensitization on Waiting Time Prior to Kidney Transplantation in Germany
Conclusions. Donor pool restriction had no significant impact on waiting time in most sensitized patients. However, despite the existence of the acceptable mismatch program, the majority of highly sensitized patients is currently disadvantaged and would benefit from better compensation mechanisms. The New 2021 CKD-EPI Equation Without Race in a European Cohort of Renal Transplanted Patients
Conclusions. The new CKD-EPI equation is suboptimal for the care and follow-up of European transplanted patients. The EKFC equation shows at least a similar performance to the MDRD and the classical CKD-EPI equation. Further validation of the EKFC equation in KTRs from a diverse ethnic background is needed. Combining Donor-derived Cell-free DNA Fraction and Quantity to Detect Kidney Transplant Rejection Using Molecular Diagnoses and Histology as Confirmation
Background. Donor-derived cell-free DNA (dd-cfDNA) fraction and quantity have both been shown to be associated with allograft rejection. The present study compared the relative predictive power of each of these variables to the combination of the two, and developed an algorithm incorporating both variables to detect active rejection in renal allograft biopsies. Methods. The first 426 sequential indication biopsy samples collected from the Trifecta study (ClinicalTrials.gov # NCT04239703) with microarray-derived gene expression and dd-cfDNA results were included. After exclusions to simulate intended clinical use...

Incidence, Risk Factors, and Outcomes of COVID-19 Infection in a Large Cohort of Solid Organ Transplant Recipients
Background. Solid organ transplant recipients (SOTr) are at increased risk for severe disease from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) compared with non-SOTr. Methods. We performed a retrospective cohort study between March 1, 2020, and March, 30, 2021, in an integrated healthcare system with 4.3 million members aged ≥18 y including 5126 SOTr. Comparisons in COVID-19 mortality, hospitalization, and incidence were made between SOTr and non-SOTr, and between different SOTr organs. Multivariate analysis was performed to identify risk factors for COVID-19 mortality and hospitalization. Results. There were 6...

Impact of the Kidney Transplantation Moratorium in France Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Cohort-based Study
Conclusion. The temporary moratorium of KT during a COVID-19 peak represents a sustainable decision to free up hospitals’ resources if the moratorium does not exceed a prolonged period. (Source: Transplantation)
