Health-related quality of life following salvage radical prostatectomy for recurrent prostate cancer after radiotherapy or focal therapy
ConclusionssRP impacts HRQOL in patients with PCa after RT and FT with no significant differences. Comparison with HRQOL and BRFS of treatment alternatives is paramount to counsel patients for appropriate treatments. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Fluid dynamics within renal cavities during endoscopic stone surgery: does the position of the flexible ureteroscope and ureteral access sheath affect the outflow rate?
ConclusionsOur study showed that higher fluid outflow rates are observed from upper and middle calyces compared to lower calyx. This was true when the UAS was positioned 2  cm below the PUJ and at the iliac crest. Significant worsening of fluid dynamics from upper and middle calyces was observed when the UAS was placed distally at the level of the iliac crest. While the difference was statistically significant, the absolute change was not significant. In contrast, f or lower calyces, a statistically significant improvement was documented. Impact of health and digital health literacy on quality of life following radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer: prospective single-center cohort study
ConclusionOur study showed a positive association between self-reported HL/e-HL and QoL, marking the first report on the impact of HL/e-HL on the QoL in men who underwent RP for clinically localized prostate cancer. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Multicenter evaluation of complex urinary diversion for renal transplantation: outcomes of complex surgical solutions
ConclusionThe mid-term kidney transplant function with complex urinary diversion appears to be comparable to transplants with regular urinary diversions. Hence, complex urinary diversion should always be considered as a surgical option, even during transplantation, if necessary. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

UroAngel: a single-kidney function prediction system based on computed tomography urography using deep learning
ConclusionsWe proposed an automated 3D U-Net-based analysis system for direct prediction of single-kidney function stage from CTU images. UroAngel could accurately predict single-kidney function in ON patients, providing a novel, reliable, convenient, and non-invasive method. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Global burden of bladder cancer mortality in 2020 and 2040 according to GLOBOCAN estimates
ConclusionOpposite mortality trends by gender highlight the urgent need for immediate interventions to expand anti-tobacco strategies, especially for women. The implementation of more strict occupational health and safety regulations could also prevent exposures associated with BC. Improving the ability to detect BC earlier and access to treatment can have a significant positive impact on reducing mortality rates, minimizing economic costs, and enhancing the quality of life for patients. Individualized center-based analysis of urinary and sexual functional outcome after radical prostatectomy based on the prostate cancer outcome study: a post hoc pathway to patient outcome measurement analysis for quality improvement
ConclusionsThe results show how using provider-specific data from a larger cohort study enables to develop institution-specific analysis for functional outcomes after RPE. These models can be used for internal quality improvement as well as enhanced and provider-specific patient communication and shared decision making. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Basal metabolic rate and the risk of urolithiasis: a two-sample Mendelian randomization study
ConclusionsBMR has causal effects on urolithiasis in an MR study, and the risk of urolithiasis in patients with lower levels of BMR is higher. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on renal cancer care
ConclusionsThe COVID-19 pandemic resulted in fewer RCC diagnoses, especially T1a/T1b tumors. Treatment-related changes appeared to be limited, temporarily and in accordance with the adapted guidelines. The diagnostic delay could lead to more advanced RCCs in later years but there are no indications for this yet. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Is “Kidney Stone Calculator” efficient in predicting ureteroscopic lithotripsy duration? A holmium:YAG and thulium fiber lasers comparative analysis
ConclusionKSC is a reliable tool for predicting the lithotripsy duration estimation during flexible ureteroscopy for both Ho:YAG and TFL. However, some variables not including laser source may lead to underestimating this estimation. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Role of oxygen reserve index monitoring in patients undergoing robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: a retrospective study
ConclusionsORi monitoring provides a non-invasive approach to predict intraoperative hypoxia during RARP, enabling early management. Additionally, the significant relationship between a higher body mass index and hypoxia underscores the importance of individualized patient assessment. (Source: World Journal of Urology)

Ureteral stricture rate after endoscopic treatments for urolithiasis and related risk factors: systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsThe overall US rate ranges from 0.3 to 4.9%, with an increasing trend in the last few years. It is influenced by type of treatment, stone location and impaction, preoperative hydronephrosis and intraoperative perforation. Future standardized reporting and prospective and more extended follow-up studies might contribute to a better understanding of US risks related to calculi treatment. Genetic susceptibility of urolithiasis: comprehensive results from genome-wide analysis
ConclusionWe for the first time implemented genome-wide MR analysis to investigate the genetic susceptibility of urolithiasis in general population of European ancestry. Our results provided novel insights into common genetic variants of urinary stone disease, which was of great help to subsequent researches. (Source: World Journal of Urology)
