The fact is that drug addiction can influence any person, and even though you may be committed in your religious beliefs with a high moral standing, you can become uncomfortable with a severe drug addiction and require the aid of a christian drug rehab center. If an individual close to you is grappling with a substance abuse, checking into one of these centers is highly advisable.
A christian drug rehab center will apply medical and psychological cures, and mix them with religious counseling so as to cure the person suffering from the problem, along with his other hidden diseases. Before you attend any of these centers, yo...

The Web of Addictions is dedicated to providing accurate information about alcohol and other drug addictions. The Web of Addictions was developed for several reasons. We are concerned about the pro drug use messages in some Web sites and in some use groups. We are concerned about the appalling extent of misinformation about abused drugs on the internet, particularly on some usenet newsgroups. Finally, we wanted to provide a resource for teachers, students and others who needed factual information about abused drugs.

Alcohol - A Love-Hate Relationship

Any person who has an alcohol addiction will inevitably develop a love-hate relationship with alcohol.
No one grows up thinking “I want to be an alcoholic someday”. Some people get snatched up right away by addiction because something in their brain goes off with that first drink or two and constant use in short order becomes the norm, while others it takes years to cross a line somewhere unknown that takes them from normal, social drinking, into the alcoholic zone.
This can be hard to picture, but once you cross this “line” drinking is no longer a matter of choice. The substance is running you and ...

Have you got the gambling fix? Do you have that magnetic attraction to gambling that arises every time you have money? Does this attraction drive you to spend all your extra money… and your bill money? Has your phone or hydro been cut off? Did you lose your house because you spent your mortgage money on gambling? Be careful… gambling can be fatal!
Gambling can lead to many unsavory things. People who gamble usually lie continuously. They lie to their spouses, their parents, their kids and their friends about how they spent their money. They will exaggerate about how much things cost. People who gamble will make...

An online-version of Adam’s, Camilla’s and my essay ”Between meaning culture and presence effects: contemporary biomedical objects as a challenge to museums” is now available on the website of Studies in History and Philosophy of Science.
Here’s the abstract of the paper:
The acquisition and display of material artefacts is the raison d’être of museums. But what constitutes a museum artefact? Contemporary medicine (biomedicine) is increasingly producing artefacts that do not fit the traditional museological understanding of what constitutes a material, tangible artefact. If how to stop smoking marijuana is a question you have been asking yourself for a while but have never found the answer then you may just be psychologically addicted to smoking pot. This is different to some other drug addictions which come with physical dependency and very painful withdrawal symptoms.
Those addicted to weed often continue doing so because of a small four letter word that has crippled many people’s lives: FEAR!
This can come in many shapes and sizes but they are all designed by your subconscious to keep you hooked on a habit that is inhibiting you but you still do it because it is an easy crutch, an...

Do you know that there’s a reason behind this for they might have an addiction to attention? Of course, most of us want to be noticed by others but not to some extent. The main element that is necessary in the cessation process is having the determination and motivation to do so; without it all efforts are useless. There are a lot of people who return to the habit even after the so called “cleansing” process. Determination and motivation pave the way for the rest to follow in quitting marijuana. Determination allows one to be interested enough in the possibilities that could happen during the first couple of days of therapy, which may happen to be the hardest part in the process. Determination allows one to be consistent despite the absence of the motivator (who, most of the ...

Most people don’t realize it, but a good number of individuals in our society are addicted to the Internet. Amongst these individuals are probably bloggers, online video gamers, and individuals who enjoy the Internet a little bit more than their TV. At one time, the average citizen spent five hours watching TV every single day, and now they split that time between the Internet and the TV, or use both at the same time (I know there goes the electric bill, and no wonder no one can spell online). Does this mean they are addicted to both the Internet and the TV?

Among nicotine and alcohol, marijuana is easily one of the most popular recreational drugs in the world today. Unlike most other drugs around the world, marijuana is still climbing in popularity. More THC content means stronger effects, which makes weed more valuable. This has led to new levels of potency in marijuana.

Indulgence in alcoholism or any other type of drug addiction is a major cause of getting into complex situations. The alcoholic himself, as well as his family, suffer from inexplicable turmoil from this bad habit. An alcoholic not only brings bad reputation to his personal name and character but his entire family is, in most of the cases, victimized by the negative attitude of the society towards them. The problem is not limited to the society alone; it encompasses all major and minor areas of personal and collective lives.
Alcoholism may numb the senses of a person for the time being, but when he recovers from the state o...

http://www.ncd.gov/newsroom/publications/2009/HealthCare/HealthCare.html
From the Executive Summary: Primary barriers to health and health care for the general population are beginning to be well documented, and heightened national awareness of these obstacles has spurred numerous proposals for health care reform. Tranquilizers are prescription drugs that are used to treat anxiety, insomnia, stress from trauma and panic attacks. It’s a depressant, which regulates the amount of stimulation present in the brain, allowing its user to relax and take things more in stride. Tranquilizers have more or less similar effects to that of alcohol and some other sedatives.
Since tranquilizers are normally prescribed to slow down the activity in the brain, preventing panic attacks and anxiety, addiction to tranquilizers is nothing new to those who abuse these prescription drugs. This addiction stems from the user’s dependence in order ...

But let me quickly mention that fighting with him is not the answer to the trouble. That will not bring him back to his right mind. You will know what to do after perusing through this article to the end.
The number one thing you must get done when living with an alcoholic hus...

I have personal experience of addiction and its effects, and felt it would be useful to share them with the community. If people are made aware of the creeping, insidious nature of all forms of addiction, then steps can be taken early, preventing the illness that is addiction from becoming chronic. I will be looking at three areas; recognising addiction, (particularly in its early stages), managing an addiction, and finally, overcoming an addiction.
A popular misconception, even amongst addicts, is that an addiction has to be chronic before it is seen as an addiction. This is not true, there is always a discernible route t...

The State of the Epidemic: HIV Incidence, 2006 provides partners with an interactive, visual method of explaining and presenting HIV incidence data. This project, was conceived based on feedback from partners who expressed a desire to have CDC data in a more accessible, visual way. This specific module portrays HIV incidence data from 2006, the most recent year for which that data is available. It allows the user to visualize the data by transmission categories, as well as by race/ethnicity and to overlay...
