Suggestions for headache resources for non-neurologists
So as a psychiatrist I find the treatment of headache kind of fascinating. Based on the medications y'all use and how you use them it seems like bizarro world psychiatry in many respects. So many familiar names, but doing strange things. Also, migraines and chronic headaches of all sorts are super common among my patients, and, like sleep, doing something about someone's migraine is a way to get buy-in for people who otherwise don't necessarily agree that they should be seeing you when the... Ashp bcps recertification
I'm working on ashp bcps recertification that is due in April. I'm planning to also do the ones that are due later this year. I was hoping to compare answers with someone. I've been stuck on module 2C for awhile and it's been giving me a headache, hoping someone here can give me some guidance! Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

TMS financial questions
I'm a psychiatry-matched MS4 currently on a pain clinic elective. I am giving a presentation about some RCTs of TMS for chronic pain conditions and would like to include some basics about reimbursements for TMS in general. I'm aware that it's not currently billable for pain (except migraines), but the goal is to provide some background about the reimbursement landscape for approved conditions. I've scoured some old threads and found the following info thus far: 2022 thread: ... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

medical director comp reduction
I'm facing a reduction in hourly compensation for medical director time. I was at $200/hour for several years, but hospital says market rate is actually $135 so sent new contract with lower rate. I'm at the point where I don't feel it's worth continuing for this amount, and I'd rather give up the headache, have my off time and evenings free from the calls to manage various issues that arise. However, I was curious if people could weigh in on their administrative time rates, hoping to get a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Botox for migraines, is it in FM scope if certified some how?
So obviously FM docs can get certified in botox use and do fillers and aesthetic procedures. This I know. Can FM doctors also use that certification to use botox in migraine treatment like neurologists and pain docs do? Is there an additional way to get certified in this or is it totally out of scope? 2024 ERAS Change: limit of 10 experiences
For 2024 residency applicants will only be able to list 10 experiences and select 3 most meaningful. What do people think about this change? In general I think it's a good change so that people aren't padding CVs with things like single day volunteer experiences, but there's the added headache of having to carefully select which experiences to ultimately include. CSE and spinal headache
New attending and recently I've been switching to doing CSE for my labor epidural. Unfortunately lately I've had a significant increase in spinal headaches. When i pull the spinal needle, no CSF from the tuohy, cathether passess easily and no response to the test dose. No sign of inadvertent dural puncture. I typically use a 25g spinal needle but now im thinking of switching to a27g. My understanding is that CSE should actually decrease the risk of PDPH but maybe I've been unlucky. Any... Helping People
I was all about the academics. Succeeded all the way through. Often still caught up in being the best or right. Then I got hooked on the money. Working as an EP seasons you quick. My mantra became making a dollar easier and more often. Sometimes though, I feel. And I like that. 20s year old girl with a different ethnicity, gender and from the opposite side of the tracks than me presented by ambulance following two syncopal episodes at work with a head injury and headache. I don’t even... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
