Inhibition of Murine Breast Cancer Metastases by Hydrophilic As4S4 Nanoparticles Is Associated With Decreased ROS and HIF-1 α Downregulation
Conclusion It was showed that e-As4S4 could alleviate the metastatic features of aggressive breast cancers through correcting the tumor microenvironment, which prolonged the survival of tumor-bearing mice, showing its important therapeutic implications to the anti-metastasis therapy for breast cancer. Ethics Statement Six-week-old, female BALB/c mice were bred at the Experimental Animal Center at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Beijing, China) under specific pathogen-free conditions. All the animal experiments reported herein were carried out in compliance with the regulatio...

Design and Development of Branched Poly(ss-aminoester) Nanoparticles for Interleukin-10 Gene Delivery in a Mouse Model of Atherosclerosis
Acta Biomater. 2022 Mar 4:S1742-7061(22)00131-3. doi: 10.1016/j.actbio.2022.02.043. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAtherosclerosis progression is a result of chronic and non-resolving inflammation, effective treatments for which still remain to be developed. We designed and developed branched poly(ß-amino ester) nanoparticles (NPs) containing plasmid DNA encoding IL-10, a potent anti-inflammatory cytokine to atherosclerosis. The NPs (NP-VHPK) are functionalized with a targeting peptide (VHPK) specific for VCAM-1, which is overexpressed by endothelial cells at sites of atherosclerotic plaque. The anionic coating affords NP-...

Ingestion of titanium dioxide nanoparticles: a definite health risk for consumers and their progeny
Arch Toxicol. 2022 Jul 27. doi: 10.1007/s00204-022-03334-x. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTitanium dioxide (TiO2) is one of the most commonly used nanomaterials in the world. Additive E171, which is used in the food industry, contains a nanometric particle fraction of TiO2. Oral exposure of humans to these nanoparticles (NPs) is intensive, leading to the question of their impact on health. Daily oral intake by rats of amounts of E171 that are relevant to human intake has been associated with an increased risk of chronic intestinal inflammation and carcinogenesis. Due to their food preferences, children are very exposed to ...
