Targeted Nanoparticles with High Heating Efficiency for the Treatment of Endometriosis with Systemically Delivered Magnetic Hyperthermia
This study is the first to describe nanoparticles that enable systemically delivered magnetic hyperthermia for endometriosis treatment. When subjected to an alternating magnetic field (AMF), these hexagonal iron-oxide nanoparticles exhibit extraordina ry heating efficiency that is 6.4× greater than their spherical counterparts. Modifying nanoparticles with a peptide targeted to vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2) enhances their endometriosis specificity. Studies in mice bearing transplants of macaque endometriotic tissue reve al that, following intravenous injection at a low dose (3 mg per kg), these ...

Toxicity and health impact of nanoparticles. Basic biology and clinical perspective.
Authors: Olaru DG, Olaru A, Kassem GH, Popescu-Drigă MV, Pinoşanu LR, Dumitraşcu DI, Popescu EL, Hermann DM, Popa-Wagner A Abstract Stroke has limited restorative treatment options. In search of new therapeutic strategies for the ischemic brain, cell-based therapies offered new hope, which has been, in the meanwhile, converted into a more realistic approach recognizing difficulties related to unfavorable environments causing low survival rates of transplanted neuronal precursors. Stem cell therapies are based on the transplantation of neuronal precursor cells (NPCs), adult stem cells propagated in cell culture o...

PLGA+Fe ₃O₄+PFP Nanoparticles Drug-Delivery Demonstrates Potential Anti-Tumor Effects on Tumor Cells
CONCLUSIONS PLGA+Fe₃O₄+PFP nanoparticles were safe, with higher invasive ability and binding efficiency of targeting CDDP with tumor cells. Therefore, PLGA+Fe₃O₄+PFP nanoparticles demonstrated potential anti-tumor effects after transplantation.PMID:35145054 | DOI:10.12659/AOT.933246

NGF Nanoparticles Enhance the Potency of Transplanted Human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells for Myocardial Repair
In this study, we investigated whether human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (hUCMSC) fibrin patches loaded with nerve growth factor (NGF) poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles could enhance the therapeutic potency of hUCMSCs for myocardial infarction (MI). In vitro, NGF significantly improved the proliferation of hUCMSCs and mitigated cytotoxicity and apoptosis under hypoxic injury. NGF also promoted the paracrine effects of hUCMSCs on angiogenesis and cardiomyocyte protection. The tyrosine kinase A (TrkA) and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)-serine/threonine protein kinase (Akt) signaling pathways in hU...

H < sub > 2 < /sub > O < sub > 2 < /sub > -Activatable Antioxidant Polymeric Prodrug Nanoparticles for the Prevention of Renal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury
In this study, we developed fucoidan-coated polymeric prodrug (Fu-PVU73) nanoparticles as renal IR-targeting nanotherapeutics that can rapidly eliminate H2O2 and exert anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic effects. Fu-PVU73 nanoparticles were composed of H2O2-activatable antioxidant and anti-inflammatory polymeric prodrug (PVU73) that incorporated H2O2-responsive peroxalate linkages, ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), and vanillyl alcohol (VA) in its backbone. Fu-PVU73 nanoparticles rapidly scavenged H2O2 and released UDCA and VA during H2O2-triggered degradation. In the study of renal IR injury mouse models, Fu-PVU73 nanoparticle...
