Administration of Silver Nanoparticles in Diabetes Mellitus: A  Systematic Review and Meta-analysis on Animal Studies
Biol Trace Elem Res. 2021 Jun 10. doi: 10.1007/s12011-021-02776-1. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBiological features of silver nanoparticles in rising the insulin level of diabetic animal models were considered in recent years, which resulted in decreasing hyperglycemia condition. We reviewed the published literature to investigate the possible role of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) throughout the treatment of diabetes mellitus in animal studies. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we performed a search throughout the English literature of electronic databases, including Scopus, PubMed, and ISI Web of Science, up t...

Evaluation of chitosan and silver nanoparticles Against isolated pathogens from Mulberry Silkworm, Bombyx mori L. (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae) under laboratory conditions
This study aims to isolate and identify certain bactеrial and fungal pathogеns from silkworm, Bombyx mori L. such as promising chitosan, plus silvеr nanoparticlеs as its antimicrobial activity undеr laboratory condition. Silkworm, B. mori (H1xKKxG2xV2-Bolgaria) eggs werе attained from Sеriculture Rеsearch Cеntеr from Giza Governorate, Egypt. Chitosan and silvеr nanoparticlеs matеrials were assembled at the laboratory of Biochеmistry Departmеnt, Faculty of Agriculturе, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt. Herein total of 7 bactеrial and 5 fungal were isolatеd from the еxtеrnal and internal silkworm larvae....

Assessing the Cytotoxicity of TiO < sub > 2-x < /sub > Nanoparticles with a Different Ti < sup > 3+ < /sup > (Ti < sup > 2+ < /sup > )/Ti < sup > 4+ < /sup > Ratio
In this study, we explored the cytotoxicity of TiO2-x nanoparticles with a different Ti3+(Ti2+)/Ti4+ ratio and analyzed the efficiency of eryptosis indices as a tool in nanotoxicology. Two types of TiO2-x nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by the hydrolysis of titanium alkoxide varying the nitric acid content in the hydrolysis mixture. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images show that 1-TiO2-x and 2-TiO2-x NPs are 5 nm in size, whereas X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) reveals different Ti3+ (Ti2+)/Ti4+ ratios in the crystal lattices of synthesized NPs. 1-TiO2-x nanoparticles contained 54% Ti4+, 38% Ti3+, and ...

In Vitro Effects of Zirconia Nanoparticles: Uptake, Genotoxicity, and Mutagenicity in V-79 cells
Biol Trace Elem Res. 2023 Jul 13. doi: 10.1007/s12011-023-03739-4. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTZirconia nanoparticles are used in various industrial and biomedical applications such as dental implants, thermal barrier sprays, and fuel cells. The interaction of nanoparticles with the environment and humans is inevitable. Despite the enormous application potential of these nanoparticles, there are still some gaps in the literature regarding potential toxicological mechanisms and the genotoxicity of zirconia nanoparticles. The lung is one of the main exposure routes to nanomaterials; therefore, the present study was designe...

Synthesis of Iron Nanoparticles Using Sargassum wightii Extract and Its Impact on Serum Biochemical Profile and Growth Response of Etroplus suratensis Juveniles
Biol Trace Elem Res. 2022 Apr 20. doi: 10.1007/s12011-022-03236-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe present study focuses on the green synthesis of iron nanoparticles using plant extracts as reducing, capping, and stabilizing agents. Aqueous seaweed extracts with the addition of iron solution were mixed using a magnetic stirrer which resulted in a color change indicating the formation of iron nanoparticles. The iron nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using Sargassum wightii extract. The synthesized iron nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), a...
