Sepsis-related immunosuppression: a bibliometric analysis
CONCLUSIONS: More and more studies are being published on sepsis-related immunosuppression and largely being conducted in developed countries. Chinese researchers need to carry out more collaborative research.PMID:37197509 | PMC:PMC10183514 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-300

Surgical intervention after neoadjuvant therapy in esophageal cancer: a narrative review
CONCLUSIONS: Neoadjuvant therapy combined with surgery is the gold standard for resectable esophageal cancer. However, optimal timing of surgery after preoperative treatment remains unclear. Minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery (including robotic surgery) has gradually replaced traditional open surgery. Active prevention before operation, accurate and meticulous operation during operation, and timely treatment after operation can minimize the incidence of adverse events.PMID:37197518 | PMC:PMC10183507 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-420

Worldwide prevalence, risk factors and burden of chronic cough in the general population: a narrative review
CONCLUSIONS: Chronic cough is a common symptom in the general population that can be associated with a deterioration of quality of life and with increased burden. The identification of risk factors and associated co-morbidities will help towards an improved management of this condition. There is an urgent need to apply the standard definition of chronic cough in future research, so that comparisons of the prevalence and other findings across populations can be made.PMID:37197554 | PMC:PMC10183506 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-22-1435

Early computed tomography after extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation on in-hospital survival: a retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: The in-hospital survival rate between treatment and control group was not different, however, early CT scan after ECPR could help clinicians to gain important information to guide clinical practice.PMID:37065582 | PMC:PMC10089888 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-43
