Acetaldehyde dehydrogenase 2 ameliorates lung endothelial barrier and balances mitochondrial dynamics in mice with acute lung injury
CONCLUSION: ALDH2 can ameliorate LPSinduced lung endothelial barrier damage in ALI mice by maintaining the balance of mitochondrial dynamics and inhibiting oxidative stress, and the mechanism may be related to the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway.PMID:37712276 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2023.08.16

A Dual-Aware deep learning framework for identification of glioma isocitrate dehydrogenase genotype using magnetic resonance amide proton transfer modalities
CONCLUSION: The proposed deep learning algorithm model constructed based on the image characteristics of the APT modality is effective for glioma IDH genotyping and identification task and may potentially replace the commonly used T1CE modality to avoid contrast agent injection and achieve non- invasive IDH genotyping.PMID:37712275 | DOI:10.12122/j.issn.1673-4254.2023.08.15

A Call to Action to Address Well-Being Within Experiential Education
Am J Pharm Educ. 2023 Sep;87(9):100078. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpe.2023.100078. Epub 2023 May 9.ABSTRACTThere is a significant lack of literature exploring or describing pharmacy student well-being during experiential learning even though students spend 30% of their doctor of pharmacy curricula in this environment. Drawing on inspiration from literature describing well-being challenges and solutions for pharmacy residents and other health disciplines, this commentary explores the unique challenges of supporting pharmacy student well-being during experiential education. Approaches for interventions are described along with a call ...

Impact of a Neuropsychiatric Therapeutics Course and a Case-Based Course on Pharmacy Students' Mental Health Stigma
CONCLUSION: The decreases in OMS-HC and AQ-9 scores and increases in Recovery and Empowerment scores indicate reductions in mental health stigma. Stigma among students was overall reduced after the therapeutics course and this reduction was maintained after the case-based course.PMID:37714654 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajpe.2023.100125

The Challenge of Curricular Overload in the Pharmacy Academy
Am J Pharm Educ. 2023 Sep;87(9):100079. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpe.2023.100079. Epub 2023 May 11.ABSTRACTThe American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Council of Faculties commissioned a task force during the 2021-2022 academic year to examine the problem of curricular overload. As a result of this task force and the Academy-wide discussions around curricular overload, a consensus has formed around the significance of defining and addressing this challenge. Many institutions have begun work on identifying solutions to curricular overload. This theme issue will identify and describe current solutions to curriculum overload that...

Qualitative Analysis of Pre- and Post-Promotion/Tenure Review Processes Employed by US Pharmacy Schools
CONCLUSION: This analysis of PT documents revealed that pre/post-tenure reviews were more commonly employed than pre/post-promotion reviews. Documents most frequently described potential negative consequences that may result from unsatisfactory post-promotion/tenure reviews. Academic leaders should consider the implications of these trends within their own institutions and how their own policies may be improved to create clearly articulated, fair, and parallel processes for both tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty.PMID:37714303 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajpe.2023.100590
