Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) are either entirely disordered or contain disordered regions in their native state. New NCBI Insights blog: NCBI Remap tool helps you transition to newest human reference genome assembly, GRCh38
NCBI’s Genome Remapping Service (NCBI Remap) allows you to map annotation data from one genomic assembly to another for a selected set of organisms. This may be particularly helpful in updating your annotations for the human reference genome assembly, which has recently been updated to the new version, GRCh38. The newest blog post on NCBI Insights describes how Remap works and how it allows you to analyze data in the context of the newest genome assembly. Attending clinical and tutorial-based activities by medical students associated with better overall examination scores
Among fourth-year medical students completing an 8-week obstetrics/gynecology clinical rotation, there was a positive association between attendance at clinical and tutorial-based activities and overall examination scores, according to a study appearing in the December 4 issue of JAMA, a medical education theme issue. "Student attendance is thought to be an important factor in the academic performance of medical students on the basis that clinical contact and teaching are necessary to develop competence.

Springer will publish lecture series with the Mathematical Biosciences Institute
(Springer) Springer and the Mathematical Biosciences Institute (MBI) in the US have signed a publishing agreement to collaborate on the Mathematical Biosciences Institute Graduate Lecture Series. The lecture series consists of readable, up-to-date collections of authored volumes that are tutorial in nature and are inspired by annual programs at the MBI. Publication will commence in early 2014.
