Muscle stem cells compiled in 'atlas'
(Cornell University) A team of Cornell researchers led by Ben Cosgrove, assistant professor in the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering, used a new cellular profiling technology to probe and catalog the activity of almost every kind of cell involved in muscle repair. They compiled their findings into a 'cell atlas' of muscle regeneration that is one of the largest datasets of its kind.

Viewership soars for misleading tobacco videos on YouTube
(Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania) Misleading portrayals of the safety of tobacco use are widespread on YouTube, where the viewership of popular pro-tobacco videos has soared over the past half-dozen years, according to research by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. In an article in the Harvard Kennedy School Misinformation Review, researchers found that from 2013-19, different kinds of popular tobacco-themed YouTube videos saw " dramatic increases in views per day, especially for tutorials about vaping products. "

Researchers develop gene catalog comprising community of microbes in vaginal microbio
(University of Maryland School of Medicine) University of Maryland School of Medicine's (UMSOM) Institute for Genome Sciences (IGS) researchers have created the first catalogue of genes that comprise the community of microbes, which inhabit the human vagina. The catalogue, called human vaginal non-redundant gene catalog (VIRGO), was recently released as a public resource that can be used by researchers to facilitate a more in-depth understanding of the role of vaginal microorganisms in women's health and to potentially develop future treatments.
