Electro ‐field alignment in a novel metal–organic framework for benchmark separation of ethylene from a ternary gas mixture
AbstractOne-step separation of C2H4 from ternary gas mixtures containing acetylene (C2H2), ethylene (C2H4), and carbon dioxide (CO2) represents a great challenge in chemical industry. Herein, we report the electro-field alignment in a novel anion-pillared MOF (SIFSIX-TEPE-Cu) for benchmark C2H4 separation from C2H2/CO2/C2H4 gas mixtures. The semi-cage cavities featuring capped facets generated negative potentials along anion pillars and compensatory positive-charged electro-fields along organic ligands (TEPE) that facilitate specific recognitions of C2H2 and CO2 over C2H4. As a result, SIFSIX-TEPE-Cu exhibits high adsorpti...

Concentrated formate produced through co ‐electrolysis of CO2 and methanol in a zero‐gap electrolyzer
AbstractRecent progresses have highlighted the enormous potentials of renewable electricities driven carbon dioxide (CO2) electrolysis in achieving carbon neutrality. However, its further industrial application is limited by low liquid product concentrations, which requires energy-intensive downstream separation processing. Herein we report a CO2 and methanol co-electrolysis strategy to produce formate at both electrodes and collect highly concentrated formate in zero-gap CO2 electrolyzers. An anion exchange membrane was employed to enable formate product crossover from cathode to anode. A bismuth silicate derived nanofibe...

Engineering Pt ‐Cu diatomics electrocatalysts enables highly efficient urea synthesis
AbstractThe rational design of novel heterogeneous urea-synthesis electrocatalysts (HUECs) poses an immense challenge due to their inherent complexity. Moreover, the ideal HUECs must also possess the ability to suppress two major competitive reactions: hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and N2 reduction reaction (NRR). However, this daunting task can be made feasible with the use of heterogeneous diatomic catalysts that have been supported by unambiguous theoretical models. Herein, we report a design for an efficient platinum-copper diatomic electrocatalyst (Pt1Cu1-TiO2) for urea production based on theoretical predictions....

Liquid –liquid mass transfer and pressure drop behavior in micro‐packed beds with different shaped packings
AbstractIn this work, the liquid –liquid two-phase pressure drop and mass transfer characteristics in micro-packed beds with different shaped packing are investigated. The experimental results show that the liquid–liquid mass transfer performance of micro-packed bed is significantly affected by both apparent flow rates and phas e ratio. By changing the characteristic size of the micro-packed bed, the experimental results show that the average volume mass transfer coefficient has no obvious correlation with the length of the bed, which indicates that the flow and dispersion behavior along the length of the micro-packed ...

Insight into the SO2 poisoning of heterobimetallic FeCu ‐SSZ‐13 zeolite in NH3‐SCR reaction
AbstractThe SO2 poisoning of a heterobimetallic FeCu-SSZ-13 in selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3 (NH3-SCR) was systematically investigated in this study. It was shown that when SO2 is involved in the feeding flue gas, the losses in the redox ability of active metals (primary contributor to deactivation) and in the number of Br ønsted acid sites both inhibit the formation of NH4NO2 intermediate, resulting in the rapid deactivation of FeCu-SSZ-13. The SO2 poisoning of FeCu-SSZ-13 at low temperature is more serious than at high temperature, because of the more severe loss of redox ability of active metals. Unlike ...
