Beyond theoretical courses - A study of Swedish psychiatric residents' collegial learning through conversations in the workplace
CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the importance of collegial conversations as a way to sustain the learning from residency courses into the workplace. By learning about residents' perceptions of collegial conversations during and after courses, teachers and directors may be more able to support residents' lifelong learning and professional development.PMID:38669224 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2024.2340665 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)

Impact of COVID-19 restrictions on self-poisoning behaviour with mild analgesics in Danish youth
CONCLUSION: These findings indicate that the restrictions enforced during the second lockdown greatly impacted youth mental health, especially girls, leading to an 85% increase in self-poisonings. We hope for increased awareness of mental health in children and adolescents during possible future lockdowns.PMID:38625374 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2024.2339433 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)

Variation in opinions on coercion use among mental healthcare professionals: a questionnaire study
CONCLUSION: There is a high degree of variation in coercion use. This study suggests that this variation persists despite staff members being confronted with the same standardized situations. There is a need for evidence-based further guidance to minimize coercion in critical mental healthcare situations.PMID:38626028 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2024.2341928 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)

The burden for clinical services of persons with an intellectual disability or mental disorder convicted of criminal offences: A birth cohort study of 14,605 persons followed to age 64
CONCLUSION: Sub-groups of cohort members with ID or mental disorders were convicted of violent and non-violent crimes to age 64 suggesting the need for treatment of primary disorders and for antisocial/aggressive behavior. Many patients engaging in violence could be identified at first contact with clinical services.PMID:38613517 | DOI:10.1080/08039488.2024.2337192 (Source: Nordic Journal of Psychiatry)
