Investigation of subclinical ocular inflammation in the aqueous humor of patients with myopia following bilateral sequential collamer lens implantation
CONCLUSION: Following sequential ICL implantation, it appears that a protective response may be activated to mitigate subclinical inflammation in the second eye induced by the initial implantation in the first eye. Additionally, the increase in IOP subsequent to surgery in the first eye may correlate with the presence of inflammatory mediators in the aqueous humor.PMID:38750973 | DOI:10.1016/j.trim.2024.102052 (Source: Transplant Immunology)

Association of myopia and astigmatism with postoperative ocular high order aberration after small incision lenticule extraction
To investigate the correlation between higher-order aberrations (HOA) after small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) and the severity of myopia and astigmatism, along with the relevant factors. These findin... (Source: BMC Ophthalmology)

High correlated color temperature artificial lighting impairs retinal pigment epithelium integrity and chloride ion transport: A potential mechanism for choroidal thinning
Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2024 May 8;718:150078. doi: 10.1016/j.bbrc.2024.150078. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAmong the environmental factors contributing to myopia, the role of correlated color temperature (CCT) of ambient light emerges as a key element warranting in-depth investigation. The choroid, a highly vascularized and dynamic structure, often undergoes thinning during the progression of myopia, though the precise mechanism remains elusive. The retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), the outermost layer of the retina, plays a pivotal role in regulating the transport of ion and fluid between the subretinal space and t...

Circulating autoantibody profiling identifies LIMS1 as a potential target for pathogenic autoimmunity in pathologic myopia
Mol Cell Proteomics. 2024 May 8:100783. doi: 10.1016/j.mcpro.2024.100783. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHigh myopia is a leading cause of blindness worldwide, among which pathologic myopia, characterized by typical myopic macular degeneration, is the most detrimental. However, its pathogenesis remains largely unknown. Here, using an HuProt array, we first initiated a serological autoantibody profiling of high myopia and identified 18 potential autoantibodies, of which anti-LIMS1 autoantibody was validated by a customized focused microarray. Further subgroup analysis revealed its actual relevance to pathologic myopia, rathe...
