Genotyping of the rs1800440 Polymorphism in CYP1B1 Gene and the rs9258883 Polymorphism in HLA-B Gene in a Spanish Cohort of 223 Patients with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia
Acta Derm Venereol. 2023 Sep 18;103:adv9604. doi: 10.2340/actadv.v103.9604.ABSTRACTThe pathogenesis of frontal fibrosing alopecia has been linked to specific genetic variants. CYP1B1 codes for a component of the cytochrome p450 machinery that is involved in the metabolism of xenobiotic oestrogens. The study of the prevalence of polymorphisms in this gene may help to understand their role in the development of frontal fibrosing alopecia. The aim of this study is to describe the frequency of genetic variations in the alleles HLA-B*07:02 and CYP1B1 in patients with frontal fibrosing alopecia. A cross-sectional study was desig...

An outbreak of trichophytic tinea capitis in a group of schoolchildren in a rural area of the department of Cauca, Colombia
Conclusions. Ideally, mycological studies define the etiological agent to propose therapeutics and recommendations in agreement with management guidelines. Implementation of multidisciplinary measures to control the outbreak and educate the population is required.PMID:37721918 | DOI:10.7705/biomedica.6793

Identifying immuno-related diagnostic genes and immune infiltration signatures for periodontitis and alopecia areata
CONCLUSION: Three candidate hub IRGs (CTSS, IL2RG, and ITGAL) were identified with considerable diagnostic values. Besides, mast cells could serve as markers for AA, while plasma may indicate PD. Our research has the potential to identify shared diagnostic candidate genes and immune cells for AA and PD patients.PMID:37717318 | DOI:10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110880

Real-Life Effectiveness and Tolerance of Baricitinib for the Treatment of Severe Alopecia Areata with 1-Year Follow-Up Data
ConclusionBaricitinib is effective in treating patients with alopecia areata, particularly for the patchy phenotype, but with a risk of relapse after discontinuation. Safety data are reassuring, with lipid changes being the most frequent adverse event.

Hepatic safety and efficacy of immunomodulatory drugs used in patients with autoimmune hepatitis
CONCLUSION: Among 25 AIH patients who were treated with immunomodulatory drugs for different reasons, the majority had a fovorable course, relapse was frequent in difficult-to-treat patients who received belimumab, and four with concomitant IBD had insufficient response.PMID:37716078 | DOI:10.1016/j.jaut.2023.103113
