Awareness of sunburn in childhood, use of sunbeds and change of moles in Denmark, Northern Ireland, Norway and Sweden
Conclusions: The results indicate relatively low awareness of ‘sunburn in childhood’ as a risk factor for MM, and important disparities in MM-awareness across countries and socio-demographic groups. Improved and more directed initiatives to enhance public MM-awareness, particularly about ‘sunburn in childhood’, are needed.

Wellington Playgrounds Uncovered: An Examination of Solar Ultraviolet Radiation and Shade Protection in New Zealand
This study explored the quantity and protective quality of shade in Wellington, New Zealand playgrounds. Two researchers visited 50 randomly‐selected playgrounds during peak ultraviolet radiation (UVR) hours in summer and recorded the mean shade cover of playground equipment, seats, tables and open areas. A Solarmeter was used to calculate the proportion of UVR blocked by each built structure and tree. The results found that 95% of playground equipment and 64% of sitting and eating areas had no shade protection. Trees blocked a mean of 80.1% (95% CI: 66.0 – 94.1) of direct solar UVR, but mostly covered open areas, not ...

Abstract B72: HPV knowledge and screening among gay men of color in South Florida
Conclusion: Similar to past research, HIV-infected gay and bisexual men reported willingness to screen for anal cancer, and they requested more widely communicated information about the risk for anal cancer and the need to screen. Future intervention work should use a community-based approach to raise awareness about SCCA among HIV-infected gay and bisexual men. Further, it is critical to ensure that both HIV primary care providers as well as general primary care providers promote HSIL screening, particularly among HIV-infected gay and bisexual men to prevent the development of anal cancer.Citation Format: Alexis Koskan, N...

Abstract B15: Communicating information about personalised genomic risk of melanoma to family, friends, and health professionals
Conclusions: Genomic risk information prompted conversations about melanoma risk and prevention, most frequently with family. When stratified by genomic risk, comparable numbers of participants discussed their genomic risk with family and friends, but communication with health professionals was more frequent among participants in a high-risk category.Citation Format: Anne E. Teaching Teens to Get Serious About Sun Safety
What’s Up with Tiffany’s Dad?Medikidz Explain Melanoma By Kim Chilman-Blair and Shawn deLoacheA summer sunburn or a trip to the tanning bed may seem like no big deal to the average teenager. However, overexposing your skin to the harmful UV rays found in sunlight and tanning lights as a teenager can add up to an increased risk of skin cancer as an adult. This year, it is estimated that more than 75,000 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, and in spite of the serious effects of this disease, many teens will not take the steps they need to protect their skin and r...

Sun-safe behaviours, personal risk, level of concern, and knowledge about cutaneous melanoma in Italy: time for social marketing?
ConclusionsOver 70% of our sample gave priority to sun tanning, which combined with low levels of concern and knowledge about melanoma, and high levels of personal risk, confirm that much still needs to be done in terms of melanoma prevention, but all these are aspects that could be effectively addressed through social marketing interventions.
